"kill stealing" - <rolls eyes>.....

Would you prefer if people just stand around not firing on a mech so you can have a one on one? Oh wait, then I'm sure the b!#ch would be that you lost because no ne acted as a team and focused fire.

You sound like the PuGs that used to complain when people asked to hold locks that that they should get up in front to get their own locks, then complained when they lost because the other team actually acted as a team.

The correction would be to credit as much to the person with the most damage on a mech as tot he one who killed it. Surprise!! already done:

Rewards 2.0 - What is the New Balance?
Reward New Reward Given XP New Reward Given CB
Kill 30 4000
Assist 20 2500
Kill Most Damage 80 5000
Solo Kill 280 10000

All of which has NOTHING to do with the scoring formula for the Tournament, the point of discussion here.

SRMs & LBs are probably the best for that, followed by lasers.

Clan SSRM 4s put up huge numbers, because they take forever to actually kill a mech - and most of the time, every missile hits.

See, that is my problem. A lot of my kills tend to be solo or highest damage kills. It's the role I play with my mech.

I felt very dirty last night "playing" the game by doing 1 kill, 11 assists and 511 damage. Gave me lots of points but that was the last I did it "their" way.

Cheers,
Eboli

I squeezed 31 shots into mine, but that still 620 with perfect aim, before it's pew pew pew time, lol! I find it hard to break 800 in my little HBK now, actually harder than before quirks. That KaliYama Big Bore just kills things too well, even stuff I am trying not to kill, lol.

^Probably have to change to something big and sloppy if I want a high score, lol.

650 damage match is pushing my limit, although my AC20 accuracy is close to 70%.
The arm laser means exposing the whole body to use, something I only do when running between covers or have a distracted target.

Yeah, that cannon is great for peek-a-boo. But it is harder to "shoot to maim" after a while. Those accidental kills add up!

Dem XL engine tho.
There are time that I remove a ST on Stalker or Atlas to see it explode and die. Duuuuuuuuuude wat?
Or AC20 Centurion, aim for cannon arm hit ST, Centurion explode. AC20 duel with Centurion are always fun.
Light mechs presenting their back armour to me? A hit on any torso will kill it out right.

which is usually the right way to win the actual match, in a medium skirmisher, anyhow. I only pack a 220, I think, in mine. What is your armor at?

Medium mechs are great training mech to get into the right mindset.

I live dangerously at 286 amour.
The 250 give me the speed to jump between skirmishes or get out of trouble.

I don't understand why the standard match score isn't used for leader boards. They have a formula, that presumably they're happy with, for determining match performance, lets just use that... or at least make kills an assists even scores, I haven't been avoiding kills but I do feel slightly penalised for killing other mechs and that's no fun.

Had a great grouped match earlier that featured our brawling rush on the enemy missile boats. It was a very balanced battle that we won 12-9.

It was ruined by a couple guys - whose unit will remain nameless - on our team who decided to game the system and farm the hell out of every mech they touched. To the point that the remaining enemy Awesome was picked apart piece by piece by piece for over 3 minutes.

They literally allowed him to kill 2 of our teammates as they sought to leg him rather than kill him. As he was sticked and shuffling along on one leg, they proceeded to tear every ounce of armor off his torso, back, head and leg. When they finally dropped him, he was down to 10%.

Pathetic, and against the spirit of sportsmanship by anyone's book.

A little more drama than needed in this thread, but I agree the scoring system for the tournament is flawed. Ideally extra rewards should encourage good team-based play. Players shouldn't be penalized for getting kills over assists, and getting assists is way too easy. You can be completely useless but manage to get a point of damage on ten mechs for a big score. Brawlers who do major damage to only a couple of mechs, on the other hand, would struggle just to get the 130 damage for the C-Bill reward.

Surely kills should at least be worth as much as assists. But with all the new scoring mechanisms in rewards 2.0 surely a scoring system can be created that is more reflective of a player's actual skill and value to their team. It will end up being more complicated on paper, but in game it should simply translate into being an extremely effective pilot.

I had back-to-back games in my Jenner-F with almost identical scores - one of them included 4 kills and 1200 damage, the other was 1 kill with 500 damage, but I managed to knick a few more mechs for assists in the second game. Obviously the first game was better, but not according to the scoring formula.

Yup, as expected, can't comprehend the big picture, focuses on minutiae. Bravo.

Son, if that was supposed to be epeen, I ain't got much to flash. And that certainly ain't what I'd be flashing.

have actually considered going light on the left side just to get a bigger engine, but so far, I'm pretty survivable at 80 kph, long as my awareness is good.... but them ambushes do make me miss my Wang, lol. 106, and GONE lol.

I'm #5 on the wall of shame(leaderboard). Trust me I did not focus on the formula. I mostly landed on there very early due to running low alpha builds and hit and run tactics which is my play style normally, I have always liked to play in my (leg grabber)spider and single a mech out steal a leg and move on letting my team finish the left overs. Also I run the boring raven3L with ERLs, it lacks kill power so naturally the assist are going to rack up. For me the game has never been about stealing or getting all the kills but more about winning. But now that the tournament is in its last day my KDR has sky rocketed due to the kills others refuse to take. THX guys

Consider weight saving upgrade first.
My 4G is using both Endo and FF to squeeze out every ton of weight I can get.

I used to run it with STD 225 and full armour, but I have got comfortable with it so much that I trim armour for bigger engine to increase my reach capability.
Had turn the tide of many skirmish with it.
