19,913,600,000

That's what has been won thus far in 100k cbills... pretty good solid numbers there for games. That's 199,136 games in 3 days that qualify. Impressive.

people gaming the system, because that is often the reason why devs have to change stuff or just drop some stuff we could otherwise enjoy.

While in the chassis challange high scores were rare and a bit luck based, the current challange shows nothing except who is going to tear mechs apart by not intentionally killing them. totally a bad thing. Glad I still had a halloween event going in another game and Farcry3 being on discount on steam, so I had something better to do than playing with people playing the system.

look at all the cores, they say nothing, because they are all rather equal probably all done with 12 assists and then the only thing making a difference was damage. No much of a point.

Consider weight saving upgrade first.
My 4G is using both Endo and FF to squeeze out every ton of weight I can get.

I used to run it with STD 225 and full armour, but I have got comfortable with it so much that I trim armour for bigger engine to increase my reach capability.
Had turn the tide of many skirmish with it.

I did. Was not willing to scrape off 1.5 tons of armor. HBK-4G "Can Opener II" Works well enough for me, I just have to keep aware of my surroundings.

Challenges like this make the game unenjoyable

But the Hula Girl isn't a lie!

Got mine. Had 4 wins in 12 matches, had some pretty good numbers on losses, but I really was only in it for the Hula Girl.

The tourment rules are very questionable indeed. But you also have to say that not every match ends up with a defeat, where only some dudes got kills and the rest their assists.

Ich bin so frech und kopier mich hier mal selbst aus einem anderen Thread:

The additional CBill reward was great, because it gives those of us that don't have enough time to grind a place in the tourney-tables a reason to play during the weekend.

What i don't understand is that kills get rewarded less than assists. Why is it so? It is vital to take out the enemy as quick as possible, so he can't shoot back anymore. Spreading damage everywhere without destroying a mech is of less value to the team then the killing blow. I know the killing blow is sometimes pure luck, but very often the one who aimed for the weak component got the kill, not the one you can't keep his lasers on target. This is skill. Kill stealing happens. Of course it does. But that doesn't mean that killing someone is less skillful than getting assists.

Below is one of my best matches in a light i've ever had (yeah go ahead and bash me for not hitting > 1k regularly) and one pretty average win result. Now look at the score...
| Game Id | Mech | Kills | Damage done | Assists | Team Damage | Score | Qualified | Time |
Posted Image

At least in the group queue, most players still play to win, and not play to assist...

Hmmmmm...

There must be some middle ground on where good play might lie, but I just...can't...seem...to place a finger on it...

I think what you are looking for is... hmmm... highest ping gets highest score? ... no ... there's gotta be ... something ... I give up. Let me know if you come up with something good! Longest unit tag maybe... no...

...So... Despite being Ghost Bear flagged, it turns out most of the matches I played didn't count because I was in a clan mech. That's just lovely. But just one match I happened to play in a BNC-3E? It counted.

Bloody hell. Lots and lots of "wasted" matches.

I really liked seeing the 'Team Damage' statistic shown on your tracked games.

I'd LOVE to see that stat reported in each match, or, barring that, tracked in the online stats you can look at for yourself.

I was looking through my matches and saw one were my team damaged was at 100 (usually it was single digits), and I was like, "Oh, that's where that arty strike went..."

I noticed this the first time we had the spot rules tournament. People actively trying not to kill.

CT crit, shoot a leg and move on.
get a target lock, fire a salvo of 10 missiles. Move to next target, oops, that one is too red, next target.

Things like that.

It was funny.

I was busy leveling mechs so only played my Cicada 2B for 2 matches (mastered now, yay), My 3 Vindicators for 1 match each and some games in my Blackjacks. got 900k extra cbills in those matches, but as you said, My better matches didn't qualify oddly.Mediocre matches did and BAD matches didn't, but scored better than the good matches??? 24 matches total

oh well.

Couple weeks from now I'll be on vacation for about a month.... then I'll finish getting all these guys leveled.

I liked seeing the team damage also. My high was 12 and was 67 for all the matches that I played. Think I'm a rather safe guy to be around.

One simple question did you guys ever stop to think this event was to promote teamwork? I get what you're saying about kills being less then assists. However any day of the week Teamwork on this game among players is generally bad, I'm not saying the event was great but my opinion is that it was to promote teamwork not just running and gunning. Did it work, in some games yes in alot of others no. Even still just have fun complaining about it isn't going to fix the past it's just gonna make PGI not want to do another event.

The messed up part about the scoring is this.

MDD-A 0 kills 131 damage 8 assest 1 team dmg 169 points woohoo i did nothing and i win

MDD-A 2 kills 507 dmg 2 assist 0 team damage 94 points sorry you lose.

both matches were wins....but in the first one, i did absolutely nothing to really help my team win & i got rewarded for it.

IMO, if anyone does over 500 dmg even 400 dmg you did your job. or at least you **** ing tried.

i think the dmg needs a boost to the scoring and not assist, spamming lrms is not skill,

And me doing averaging 16 dmg to 8 people did not help the team at all. that's not team work, i just got lucky that my lrms made it past the ams fire

maybe an assist scoring boost only after a dmg threshold has been reached, would be better so to say. i did 300 dmg, ok now i get the assist boost because i deserve it.

I can agree with that, but my feeling on the assist system of the game in general is that just because you shot a target doesn't mean you assisted. Assists shouldn't be given unless you've done 20-30 damage to the targeted mech OR removed a component such as leggin a light should be an instant assist but anything below 20 damage you're not really assisting in killing it. You really can't say thats not a fair logic because every mech in the game is capable of doing 20 damage within 2 seconds.

Just to clarify incase anyone is confused say a Drag my laser across a spiders leg and get off 5 damage if it dies later I wouldn't get an assist, but if I legged said spider with that 5 damage I would get an assist. Other then that a damage threshold needs to be implimented I see far to many people with 100 or lower damage with 8-10 assists per match thats 10 or lower damage on everything the shot total but they're getting assists when 10 damage isn't crap.

The Tournament scoring system does not promote the most useful realistic tactics helpful to play the game and win, but it does help to equalise scoring for these competitions and promote fun accross the board for players when people win prizes from them.

I will leave it to you to decide how important these factors are to you personally but I see both of the above elements as being factors beneficial to MWO and its community.

Interestingly however, when and if PGI use these numbers to consider how tactics are best applied however to the tech or factions I would say it better to promote the more objective gamestyle that tries to kill with the minimal effort and damage and with differning focus of attention to do this, and moreso especially if using these metrics to help with game balance decisions for the upcoming CW where I'm assuming the "play to win" mentality will be more relevant than ensuring everyone gets the assists?

But watching the players go out of their way to touch everything and NOT get kills, to maximize their scores, so they can show of their Epeen? Seriously laughable.

Anybody doing this should be ridiculed and ostracized from the MWO community.

Its a joke because people figured out.... helping and playing the game like they should didnt matter.

They all boated LRMs they -- did not cover each other or give a **** about anything. It was all about the assist which was just stupid.

In fact/... people didn't even kill -- they just wanted to hit one and move on lol... It was honestly a step back in game play for sure.

I sure hope they do NOT do this one again.

Son? son? really? son? hahahahhahahahah

Internet tough guy for the win!! no Epeen problems for you!!

Really is there anything funnier then listening to some poster who is practically bursting with self-importance and self regard, lambasting other people for gaming the tournament to inflate their sense of importance? I think not! you sir are hiiiiiiilarious.

I can see those 20k posts (seriously! 20k posts!????) have done little to dampen your enormous self-esteem.

:D

This from the guy who ADMITS on his account that it is an ALT because..."HE HOPES THE STATS ARE BETTER"?!?!\

If we wanna talk about epeen....you have a FAKE account that you created to pad your stats.

So who has the e-peen problem here?

Bishop has done lots here on the forums with the 20,000 post. Id say about 7,000 were responding to tool bags like yourself.

Carry on Bishop!

To be fair, a crappy challenge after the Halloween event kind of "makes sense" with PGI.
