PGI found one way.

Quirk the IS mechs. Now people are complaining about the SPLaser Firestarter, the Thunderbolt 5SS "ThunderWub", heck I even heard a few rumblings about the fire rate of the A/C20 on the Hunchback 4G.

Sidesteps, sure, I'll support that. But when canon also says that it takes the very best pilots to do even basic hand-to-hand combat, I refuse to believe they can do handstands.
They're 20+ ton warmachines. They're just as clunky as their designs would suggest.
I'm not asking for handstands in this game, just some basic mobility functions that were in previous titles like crouching and maybe limited directional jumpjet thrust on mechs designed with lots of JJs in mind [IE: only the spider really]

The Mark 3 is also lesser lighter version of the origonal so I do not think the crying would change much. Just my opinion of course. The one to look forward to but we will never see is the Mark 4. That is a beast.
Lol, the Vulture and Mad Cat MKIVs I think look absolutely amazing. As far as redesigns go, those are one of the few I think look cooler then the originals.

I'd be happy with side stepping and crouching, but directional JJ thrust seems... exploitable. And Spiders don't need any more help being mobile. Summoners and Highlanders (among many others) could definitely use that though, seeing as how they're designed as jumpy Mechs.

If one mech is a problem, change the whole game around the mech as much as possible. For God's sake don't actually nerf the Timber Wolf, just add a bunch of new mechanics, quirks, mechs and whatever else you need.
Is ECM a problem? Just increase BAP range to 1000 meters, so ECM is now obsolete. There. Are we having fun yet?

Yes. You do not even want to contemplate the unholy terror that would be a TBR with a 350. An extra 5 tons of space to use, and still goes at 84. that 5 tons allows all sorts of thing like dual guass that do not work with the 375. (note: not saying the TBR is bad. its just not optimally designed)
If you are building a mech you should stick roughly within these speed limits (after tweak), with the lower weight chassis in the class generally being faster, because high end engines cost a disproportionate amount of tonnage as they increase:
Light: 130 -170
Medium 90 - 110
Heavy 70 - 90
Assault: 60 - 70
Of course clan mechs don't get to choose, so its luck of the draw really.
Actually for its chosen movement profile of 86,4 km/h without JJs, the (un-modded, stock) Timber Wolf sits at the optimal tonnage with its 375 xl engine(for remaining free tonnage that can be allocated for armor, equipment and weapons). For IS standard engine meks that mass would be 60 tons and 55 if jump jets are wanted.
70 tons gives same leftover tonnage with cheaper 350 engine, but 75 tons means more internal structure points and higher max armor points.
The Timby is min-maxing wise one of the most optimal meks in the entire BT.

Im talking about MWO optiminsing, not TT...
Trust me, with a 350, the Timber would be a lot better than it is now.

This exactly.
Here is the thing. There is always going to be a few mechs that happen to be at the top of the heap and if you nerf them to the point they aren't on top, then it is just going to be another mech at the apex. The thing of it is being good, isn't a bad thing so PGI just needs to do what they generally do best and ignore the whinners.

Optimizing is still the same, its jut the TT has much less steps in engine rating allowed. Timby can be "better" for the current meta with a 350 engine, but not more optimized design wise.

It is one thing to be the best overall mech. It is another to be heads above the rest. Nothing a quick hit-box fix, small mobility nerf quirks and cheat-jump removal can't fix.
