..... that sniper doesn't make it.
Now, if they lock down a good approach, keep moving in relation to the team, stripping or weakening vital points, controlling fields of fire for his team to advance? Good sniper. Quite welcome.
Just like how you don't want a brawler that runs in and dies for no reason, you want them to stick with the group and screen for your snipers and lrms, then possibly open a flank. Stuff like that, using your head for the good of the group.
Though, you're aware of this ingame, just having to put it down in words and such.
Well said.
As a short-range HBK-4SP, I find that I usually can't create opportunities on my own. I rely a lot on friendly long-range mechs to open up those lanes before I can drive through them. What I try to do is exploit the opportunities that teammates create for me, and make it a bigger pay-off than we'd otherwise get with yet another sniper, by carrying greater weight of firepower for my weight class and being fast enough to pursue bigger injured targets that my own snipers have already opened up.

For the last couple of months, the biggest "thing" in the solo queue has been whichever team has ECM cover for it's LRM rain tends to win. It's magnified a little by the newest Clan mech but that happens during events, too, so whatever. The range boost to BAP/CAP has helped somewhat...in some games it REALLY helps, in others you have players that can't even spell BAP. Hopefully it'll even out eventually.
Right now, brawling tends to happen either when one team decides it doesn't want to play the ECM rain game and just casually strolls over the enemy (because they took off and abandoned their assaults) or one team simply doesn't have the ability to cut the other's ECM cover. When that happens, the losing side takes rain up to the point the brawlers run into them and all the way through it (yes, expect LRM friendly fire just as bad as the enemy fire). It is what it is, man.
Me, I figure that I might as well just play like they do as far as generalities are concerned. I don't really much care when people walk in front of me while I'm firing anymore. I used to lift or shift fire when it happened, but to be honest with you, after over a year playing with people that simply don't care if they core your back or kill you...I figured I might as well not care, either. It is what it is. I also don't take point if we all happen to be moving in the same general direction temporarily, either. I have absolutely NO problem using my Jump Jets to fly up and back over the head of the guy that was crowding me and using me as a shield...and then returning the favor. If I can't escape, I have no problem suiciding by dropping an arty strike at my feet, either. And no, I don't feel bad if I take that moron with me, either. Welcome to the solo queue.
Yeah, and its **** like that that makes Online gaming absolutely miserable.....its why id rather play PVE forever more......players are selfish, pissy, stupid, dumb, ignat....and just bad.......
Atleast an AI you can attack with, you can command them to do stuff, you can actually coordinate better with a squad of AI then any number of players. Only time its an issue is when the AI decides to get stuck on something....but otherwise, they do a pretty good job. The countless times I would play BF2 with armies of AI, it was so epic to attack the last couple posts alongside my AI buddies. Us advancing, the enemy advancing, guys dropping, medics rezzing, getting ammo when I needed it, being able to rez the enemy...and since im not the focus of the fire, I am able to rez and NOT get shot in the face......
Idk, ive just had alot more fun with AI then I have ever had with human players in games....Planetside 2, I spent most of my 67 Battle ranks flyin solo....it worked until hit detect went to utter ****...cuz anytime I tried ot play alongside fellow players...it was either Teamdeaths, or teamdeaths......never really got to far. Rezzing was unreliable and uncommon, ammo was impossible to come by, engis dont drop that. They frag each other, run each other over, knife you just for fun......yeah......

Well, killing friendlies -can- be fun, but they have to be friendlies you're grouped with, It's a bonding experience. Usually funny also. It really sounds like you just haven't been lucky enough to find someone that you work nicely with, and bonded with them enough to play other games with them.
Try it sometime, it's -amazing- compared to solo play.

So you can carry ER Lasers even though they are doing the most damage at brawl range. With no PPCs there is only brawling now even though players may open fire at long range. There is no anti-LRM attack with PPCs removed also.

This reminded me of something. I once saw a LRM only Catapult "brawling" on River City. He stayed at 200ish meters and danced around between buildings to keep that distance and avoid return fire. I wish I could remember his name, it was possibly the most impressive playing I have had the opportunity to see in my time playing.

Ive seen two things that really stand out in my mind of amazing play, and neither involved LRMs, but both involved a Locust.
We were 7 down on Caustic, and the last lolcust pulled it out by using the (then new) turrets against the rest of the enemies and Zombiestevejobs pulling NINE KILLS in another lolcust to pull out the win for us XD

Lol, its cuz I always run across all the idiots....and those are the ones who seem to attach to me.....its kinda annoying. I did play with my uncle in World of Tanks for awhile, and did rather well during that time.
And as for killing friendlies, I never find that fun or enjoyable...esp not in a Multiplayer game where ive come to win and kick ass......in a SP game, sure, its funny once or twice....but I still dont find it that funny....

As for SRMs, they're laughable on all but a handful of builds (i.e Stormcrow and Timber Wolf) due to their still broken hit detection.

Its actually harder to aim at close range. Long range requires less input for correction, and you have a longer window to view your target.
The closer you get, the more difficult it is to hit a specific spot because the distance you have to aim increases. This is backwards from real life with say a firearm...where increased distance magnifies errors in your aim or platform or sighting.
Love this quote.
I would be interested in seeing how the online sniper pros would do if we went out to the firing range with ar-15s and started plinking 50-300m targets with iron sights. Mouse, keyboard, or Xbox controllers do a poor job of teaching good techniques.
