Russ Said "we Said" There Was To Much Brawling

Sniping and fire support and scouting and skirmishing are great too...but at the end of the day, one of the most satisfying things you can do in this game, is face off in a torso twisting melee with a mech or two at under 400m, trying to hit the weak spot on something bouncing all over your screen trying not to die.
Thats where the juicy center of the tootsie pop is at. Brawling.
Everything else is supporting the brawl.
Its your point of contact, your engagement with the enemy, where the fight is being decided, where the men are becoming heros and the heroes are becoming legends. Its what EVERY piece of art, on the background of this page, to the TROs, to fan art depicts.
Rarely is there art of sniping or fire support....its all Melee and Brawling. Because thats whats bad ass. Thats the treat at the center of the candy.

The majority of my games are spammed with LRMs.
Imo the real meat of Mechwarrior is getting up close and doing some damage. If you want to sit 2000m away and plink then take a Long Tom.
I would if I could... but there are no weapons that shoot that far in this game because too many maps would be too small for it.

So like I said... brawling is when things go wrong, and is never a positive or pleasant experience for me, even when I win... I hate it.
I feel the exact same way about sniping.
If that's how I win then I just feel dirty and unsatisfied.
Gotta be all up in that business causing a ruckus. Everyone aughta enjoy a good ruckus.

Hey and it takes both of us to make a STOMP.
Your doing your job, and me doing my job, is how you smash the other team into oblivion. From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.
Teamwork brah.

IMO, the ones like only brawling they like to see enemy mechs taking half or more the size of the screen. Maybe an aiming issue.
While sniping at long range aiming a bunch of pixel requires all other kind of skills.
I like all roles, btw.

Its actually harder to aim at close range. Long range requires less input for correction, and you have a longer window to view your target.
The closer you get, the more difficult it is to hit a specific spot because the distance you have to aim increases. This is backwards from real life with say a firearm...where increased distance magnifies errors in your aim or platform or sighting.

You get all up in their grits, gimme an "R" and I'll cuff em about the head and shoulders or get them to turn their back to you for you so you can knife him. Deal?

Anyone else notice SRM hit reg going backwards? I've all but stopped using my SRM brawlers in favor of ML or MPL brawlers for the last month. I mostly notice the issue at really close range, below 50m. I see my aiming reticule turn red, but there's no explosion.
On the topic of too much brawling: No, never. There can never be too much brawling.

Nah... too much professional driver in me. I don't do ruckus. I do risk assessment and avoidance while watching the fireworks I launch down range. But you go have fun. Just remember to give me an "R" so I can help you when you get into trouble.

Close range, hitreg gets really bad as the speed relative to your crosshair increases ten fold.

Yeah my general approach is to hit R...bring in some lrms and check his damage, then unlock so you guys dont steal meh thunder, then go in for the throat...if things get bad, I back up and hit R to call in the cavalry.

Yup SRM hitreg has been horrible.
I was so happy to see the medium queue finally drop the past few days...yet my Splathawk that I used to Splat Direwolves with in 3-4 salvos, are now taking 5-7...which is...ludicris for 3xSRM6 with arty.
Wub is where its at currently.

**** son I usually pack a tag in there somewhere just to make your life that much easier. Hell I'll even try and drive or lure people out of cover so sniping cowards can get their licks in.
All about the teamwork. If I'm getting mine I like to make sure everyone else gets theirs.
I just prefer to assess them threats from 200ish meters.

Though ideally you just fix the whole pin point damage thing. Make the cross hair floating, have some time for the weapons to converge properly, etc...
Brawl range weaponry only has a few standout pinpoint options that are also front loaded (AC 20).
One of the premeier brawling weapons, which can tear mechs apart, is spread and not pinpoint (SRMs).
You don't need pinpoint weapons to wreck mechs in seconds in a brawl, you just need focus fire.
