My favourite mech is the Mad Cat. Its got a great combination of firepower and speed and I always thought it was a bargain at 75 tons in games like Mechcommander with the mission tonnage limits. Mad Cat MK 2 is pretty good at 90 tons as well.

The Battlemaster was my favourite mech, and first played the P&P version in 1985.

I played awhile back, and it was the second multiplayer game I ever played. I can't remember what MW game it was, but I loved the Puma; or it's an Adder. I just remember the game calling it a Puma. I was part of some gamespy clan named Cold and that's how I got that part of my name. I really can't remember much and I haven't played a real game of MW since but I really want to play again.

Rifleman.

I picked up an old copy of BattleDroids at a game shop in '91. Apparently George Lucas had the term 'Droids' copywritten at some point and sued them until they changed the name to BattleTech.

First time I played Mechwarriors.. I have no idea but it was Mechwarriors 2 (Mechwarriors 3 shortly after).

And my favourite mech in general is the Uziel or the Belial variant. However there are probably heavy mech's that I like more.

My first Mechwarrior Game was Mechwarrior. It came in the Battletech Trilogy boxed set with Crescent Hawks Inception and Revenge. I had previously played the Tabletop, but that is not the OP's question.

In MW1, my favorite mech was the Warhammer. I prefered having more long range firepower than my lancemates in their BattleMasters. However, the Rifleman was very nice as well. I found the Marauder to be too vunerable.

In MW2, I liked the Hellbringer.

In MW3, I used a Shadow Cat.

In MW4, I used a Loki or Hellspawn. I was also very good with the Raven.

My first MechWarrior game (on the Sega Saturn, haha) was MW2. My favorite mech had to be the Timberwolf, surprise, surprise.

Edit: Forgot that game was the Clans' perspective and they called it a Timberwolf, woops.

I'd say my favorite is the Dervish. Its just something about the look of the mech and it's battlefield role. It does a little bit of everything, at least to my taste.

I think the first MW game I played was MW2: Mercenaries back in highschool, which developed my interest in the TT.

Now, now, this is a secret, as I'm not fond of the Clans, in general, but I tend to love the Clan versions of some Star League 'Mechs.
My favorites out of those are the Jenner IIC in the first place, followed by the Hunchback IIC.
Seriously.

A favorite non-Clan 'Mech is the Archer.

I first started playing MechWarrior a few years ago; I actually migrated from Starsiege, when I saw the old trailer for MechWarrior 3 and fell in love - everything from weapon special effects to the cockpit and HUD details was just amazing in comparison to that which I was used to; though, surviving a long battle is not always easy without shields, which the Herculans from Starsiege possess.
Both games feature a lot of universe lore, which I like.

I was about 15 Years old, when i startet playing Battletech. Read a book about the Mechs in a Technical Readout and afterwards i first stepped in the Board Game with a 45t Phoenix Hawk. That was my also my first tin figure, paintet in Red, with Flames.
The First time i met in Battle was against a 60t Riflemen. I didn't knew it has almost Paperthin back armor, i decided a Death from above and lost. Afterwards i knew soon much enough about mechs, that this never happend to me again.
Afterwards played a Shadow Hawk for a long time.
At Present i am used to play a Turkina 95t Clan Machine in the Board Game/Roleplaying setting.
Mechwarrior II was the First Computer Game I played on the series, because my first PC was a little bit later. The Amiga before prevented from Playing the first BattleTech Computer Games.

Now i almost can't wait to step back into Battle with Mechwarrior Online. Board Game ist played regularly since i was 15 till now on.

First intro to MW was joining my sons playing it TT back in the 80's. Then in the 90's I came across a MW2 mercs disk and played single player and was hooked. Just too dumb to figure out how to play online. In 2001 I found MW4 Veng and went online for the first time - what a debacle! I used to run a Thor with twin erppc and a light gauss, driving long distance Daishis crazy and graduated to Highlanders and Kodiacs. I played until no servers were left and waited a decade for this.

I played endless amounts of Mechwarrior 2, MW2 GBL and MW2 Mercs. I played a decent amount of MW 3 and am still playing MW 4 Mercs a couple times a week. I've beat MechCommander 1 and am replaying MechCommander 2 to try and finish.

I own the 25th anniversary boxed set but have yet to play a game.

My favorite mech overall is the Orion. I therefore also a fan of the Perseus.

Favorite mech is probably the Bushwacker. Has a great menacing look to it. And while it's not a hyper optimized "perfect design", I like its mixture of ranges and capbilities.

First time playing Mechwarrior? MW2 demo with ye olde software rendering under ms-dos. Back in the day, MW2 was *mind blowing*. You had big stomping mechs with complex shaded graphics, you had a cockpit that rocked around you, you had a dozen different HUD readouts you could change. Want a rear view? Satellite view? Want to turn everything into an enhanced wireframe? Can do!

Fav Mech?
Puma (pesky, little, annoying thing that pops assaults)
MadCat Mk II in Clans version (epic firepower, epic agility)
Demolisher tank (because it's not a Mech and yet it can roll over nearly any mech out there)

First game? Mechwarrior 3
