Challenging Challenges Are Challenging

Now, I'm really bad at this game, so no surprise there, but I think there are many players out there that aren't 25% into that tier 2 goal yet either. I feel like this challenge has poked some real holes in my self-perceptions about my mechwarrior prowess (which was reasonably low to begin with). It is hard to kill, survive personally, and win as a team all in one match.
Also, I think a big part of my problem has been how I originally "strategized" playing this challenge. Namely, get ultra conservative once you've bagged your kill and assist. It's basically making me suck.
Bottom line: It's called a "challenge", meaning, "probably not easy to accomplish". I doubt I'm going to complete this one and get a Victor. Maybe carpal tunnel syndrome.

player1: "I'm new to lights"
player2: "me too!"
player1; "and I'm not good"
player2 "me either"
player3: "I'm new"
I look at the team list and see these three are all in lights in alpha lance. Four trial mechs in our group total.
me: OK, just stick together with the team, don't run out solo and die. You are fast but have no armor to initiate with.
Less than three minutes into the match Alpha lance is dead as they went running to the four corners of the map. I just had to chuckle, shake my head and move on.

its not that im a bad player its just this event doesn't work with my style of play,
i usually run a KFX- ECM, 3AMS, CAP, 4JJ, 3SPL, 2MG,...
Light- Anti-Light & Anti-Missile Support,
now ive tried other mechs SCR NVA DWF TBR and still no points,
personally i think the problem is the survival aspect of the Event,

I dropped solo before going to work yesterday and qualified for 4 out of 7 matches.
So far playing smart and in solo que tends to make the challenge easier.

They should have given a cheaper champion mech at 10 points. Not try to make people play 10 hours every weekend.

However, you have to pull your own weight to even get consistency.
Inconsistency is the enemy of the great.

there is something VERY wrong with that.

Yeah took me 59 matches to knock out the challenge so this seems about right. Honestly I don't tend to enjoy these challenges well except for the Halloween event which was just amazing and actually encouraged me to play about twice as much as I usually do.
The big issue I had this challenge was that at the end of the day you had to rely on your team playing well. I honestly had some of the best game play I have every produced yet time and time again, my team failed me and by half way through the challenge it stopped being fun. By the time I finished it today, I was so thoroughly stressed out and frustrated that I couldn't wait to log off the game. Honestly I don't think this is how these challenges should go.

Your play style should always include "survive the match".

I was lucky to do it in 48, but had a pretty good group of C4s to work with on Friday that brought me 10 out of 20. Had to do the rest solo, but god it felt like I was playing Outlast not MWO. I tackeled the event with CDA-3M\2A and Embers and especially the latter is good at killing stuff lategame, so I very often had to get my kill from the last remaining enemies... I never felt so stressed out playing in my entire live, because I knew that if I can't do it within 60 matches I will run out of time.
The Victor itself is a great price and premium right from the beginning helped me get some much needed weapon modules along the way, but fun it was not.

Not sure what happened to the game, but I was gone from actual gameplay for more than just a 30 minute pop in here and there over the past 6 months or so. But I've kept up via forums. But now, nothing I do seems to be working. Everything just seems to be people piling on top of eachother, a constant retreat, death in .1 sec to stuff I didn't know and a thousand long range missiles. I don't really know what I'm supposed to anymore.
But apparently this challenge, 30 or so matches in , has yielded 0 points total for me. I can't even remember if we had much of any wins on my team. But who knows... I started quitting to get in to the next match when I die. Cause hey, it doesn't matter in the slightest who wins now.
Every single match you just seem to suddenly be hit by extreme damage hits like gauss, heavy acs and such from 4-5 mechs, stripping everything in one hit. But for some reason, my team never seems to get in to those situations. I don't know what's going on with that, but it's just a constant stomp in a few seconds for me, every single match. And if it's not, then I just seem to see every member of my team slowly retreating and dying along the way. Is there some sort of issue with the matchmaker that puts groups in to the solo queue now?

I live in the USA where it is just not fun to play any time after 11PM MST. Prime times for me are between 5 and 10pm on the week days or 12pm to 6pm on the weekends. Anything outside of those time periods and the risk of running into a GOON squad or comp team is much higher.
