Introducing The Gift Store

If someone were to gift me a Masakari package (I'd like it, but let's be honest, I'll never get it), I have a Kitfox package at the moment and that would be $30 loss on the guy ordering the $240 Masakari package.
Even the Gold mech "terms" for gifting a package offers the difference in the mechs in the pack already acquired... which is converted into MC. The terms of the "gift packs" don't do any of that (duplication of pack does not benefit the gifter or the giftee).
It's makes more sense for the nice "gifter" to purchase a $30 "pack upgrade" (or $20 for a resistance pack "upgrade") and upgrade the my Kitfox (or Panther) pack to the next level, instead of "losing out". Obviously buying someone the Masakari pack when they have the Timberwolf pack makes absolutely no sense based on the current logic.
Seriously.. make the gifts "affordable" through logical means, and you'll have better sales of gifting packs.

I'd like that also, along with the ability to spend MC for gifts (i.e., buy MC, and then use the MC to buy Mad Dog's for a buddy).

as a matter of fact.. make more colors available for freaken C bills damnit! whats with only 6 or so crappy colors being c bill buy-able? My teams got colors I can't exactly afford to throw down for, Let alone the camo to add it on the mech.

I don't have any real life friends.. so I'll be happy to have some MWO friends instead! (Friendship not conditional on gifts, but highly encouraged),

these new mechs cost $223 without any special bulk buy offer. not even an incentive or deal if you buy all 12.
PGI come on I am not asking for free mechs, but play the game and look at what you offer to your player base and think, yeah that is a good deal, players will snap these up.
As it stands I might buy 1 mech and just save my C-bills to purchase them later in the year.....but If I could have bought ALL the new mechs for a one off purchase price of say $110, (this is after all 12 mechs) which is slightly more than the IS resistance pack (oh look that has 12 mechs, with bonuses).
I have no idea who sets your pricing model for these clan BASIC mechs, but that person/team needs some ideas on incentivising sales better.
Heck if you like have it tie in to the purchase of the old packs if you want to limit the player bases ability to purchase these extra chassis, without owning the old mechs.
all this requires is players accounts to be looked at and OH look this guy has bought (for MC/CASH) previous clan chassis.
Now if these had been HERO mechs I would have said fair dues, they have to be purchased individually.
I thought the CASH grabbers were IPG not you guys.
*MechWarrior online is getting a bad rep in the online community for whale harpooning, let us just say a steam launch, with this price model still intact will be as popular as going naked to do your shopping in New York, sure it will be a laugh at first, then a media s**t storm and ultimately a nice few days in county learning to dodge the soap, before skulking back into obscurity.*

Being certain that it has been said before but not being able to resist, PGI does use the same letters as IPG. It is highly likely that there is some lingering badness around.
Eh, anyways since DLC and F2P and P2W and all the other versions of giving money to support a company rather then the old subscription or just buy and game and play, became a thing. Medium to large devs are all hooked on this because people still pay for it. There is no emotional play that even if it does get a response from the dev (which will be fabricated) that will change these types of models, because we still pay.
Some devs do it better and others do it worse, but at the end of the day we still pay. Loyalty is just an empty husk now and that goes beyond gaming, get treated bad at a store you stop going to all of those stores, bank got a better deal over there? Sign my up my new banking manager, there is not 10-20 year relationships anymore.
The only place you really feel like part of the team with a game is when they are a really small indie team trying to make their idea work. That's when they interact and chat from a more real sense, even now I am fortunate enough albeit rare, to be getting a Q&A with a dev regarding a new MMO based on SW:G and UO that is in alpha. That is cool, but again they are trying to make it and willing to do what it takes and we hope, so much hope, that they stay true. And some will but of course some that do break through the cult following of fans and make it big at some point have the conversation about making money. That becomes a focus where meetings start with figures for financials rather then the development journey plan or community satisfaction, we move from the value customer to the genetically modified cash cow lined up on the slaughtering belt throwing money and pleading for quality consumer and developer interaction, but we still pay.
HEHE - With that all said and really don't read into it too much I just love to drop a wall sometimes, I have only just recently come back and the first thing I did was get some pacls, eh why not? If I get another few hundred hours of fun gameplay and teamwork with friends, I am happy.
Just for what it is worth, ask yourself if what you are trying to give the fans, is simply value for money. If you can confidently tick that box with common sense and reason you will make more money than $500 cold skinned mechs over the long run. That is a business tactic still valid across the globe even in today's age, its enemy is greed. Greed has a shelf life.

I want to give you more money! Please add MC and Mechbays to the gift store ASAP. I have a number of friends(wiser with their money) that are free to play. I would like to enhance their experience with MWO.
Please let us help you make payroll,
Cpt Leonidas

I agree!
Our clan is running an internal little tournament and we were looking for something like mech bays to hand out as rewards...but nope

all players named "Dawnstealer" getting a unique Hatchetman mech? Because their 40th birthday is coming up soon? Like that, right?
*runs to check mechbays*
**sobs quietly to self**
(also, if it were an option, I'd totally throw down actual real money for MC so I didn't have to grind for weeks just to get an XL engine or DHS for my new mech)

So, I got a purchase receipt an hour ago, but still no gift code. Or is the transaction ID supposed to be the gift code? Or are the gift codes somehow generated manually, and I'm out of luck because the gift code slave is off duty right now?
Maybe I just need to talk to Paypal.

And since today is wish day, I would love to see the ability to put all of these things in a "unit pool" for distribution to "needy lancemates".
