Since judging by the amount of friendly fire, there is some confusion about this.

That is all.

Sadly, it's a challenge. In all challenges, people do rampantly stupid things.

See also: They got a kill and an assist, then proceed to hide in the back because that fourth requirement, "Win the match", apparently doesn't apply.

Most aggressive initially then passive matches I've ever seen in this game.

I should update my guides.

"In MWO there are two kinds of armor: front armor (to protect your mech from the opposing team) and rear armor (to protect your mech from your teammates)."

:)

Well, only dropped in 3 PUG matches so far this morning, and been on the most idiotic teams I think I have ever been on 3 times. Hard to even get a kill, or carry harder when your whole team is dead like a minute into match.

10 matches, 9 groups of placid, cowardly morons. Shamefully, finally lost my cool and called one team out on it. Can only absorb so much stupid for one weekend.

Might have to go out and do something else.

Kinda sad as the last few tourneys were mostly OK......

It's a challenge you really want to play in the group queue, more than most others. PUG matches are sooooooooo frustratingly timid.

Most groups have not been much better. I did that last night.

Pick a group of people who don't suck :)

Basically, if you get a group who'll play aggressively, it's easy wins.

Is that solo queue?

Last night the team queue was a bit better than the solo queue.

Not massively better, but a bit better.

A few units however clearly were doing the kill, hide, shut down nonsense. Which makes no sense really.

No, no. I think you're confused.

The latest patch included a mechanic where if you're on a team with 7 or more LRM boats, whenever those boats are 600 or more meters away exactly half the collective missile damage inflicted will be applied to whatever friendly mech they're leeching locks from.

It's a balance thing.

I know they are; I assumed he was running with other folks, given how he said his team was really passive even in the group queue.

I've been quite successful in my group runs, purely because of getting a group who're willing to _fight_. Aggression beats cowardice every single time. And if the players in your group understand that winning is more important than their own life, each player wins more, survives more overall, and scores faster.

Friends don't let friends be cowardly window lickers.

People are doing it because then they can secure their own challenge point. A good solution would be for people to share their kills and not try to shove people out of the way for one when they've already gotten one that match. Unfortunately, most people aren't doing that. This challenge actually has players teamkilling each other to secure a point for that Victor. I've seen it. PGI, if you are reading this, edit the challenge ASAP.

The kill-stealing is bad, but I chalk most of this up to the "**** you, got mine" mentality that the survival requirement ingrains, because since the survival requirement dismisses any possibility of getting kills via brawling, which is a high risk, high reward playstyle, everybody gets competitive once one teammate whittles the enemy down to an open CT because "**** you, got mine".

Personally, I'm giving up. I want that Victor so damn bad, but I value my sanity. I actually just got a Victor last weekend because I wanted to start with the chassis, and a free upgraded 9S would be awesome. But this is hands down the worst absolutely gameplay I've ever seen in the solo queue in Mechwarrior Online. Its horrific, its been years since I've seen players performing this poorly in any game. The average public match filled with in Call of Duty on Xbox 360 performs better than MWO solo queue teams are performing this weekend, and Call of Duty's reputation for having a terrible, selfish, hostile community is not unearned.

Even CGBI depends on the group makeup. Most of our officers lead well. But....you can still end up in a group that seems to have it's collective IQ lower.

especially since "WIN" is a requirement? People seem to be afraid of dying, so everybody dies and we lose. Instead people need to grow a pair, and realize that you will die some, but you will win/survive MORE total matches than if you hide. But everyone seems to want to hide and expect the team to carry the win, every match, and when 8-11 of the team do that, ...well the results should be predictable.

Although i dont like you, you have a point. The entire tournament, event or whatever is absolutely discouraging. The overal teamplay is getting worse.

Never have seen that much cowardism, teamkilling, friendly fire and more. And this is just on a single day with the event running.

Something went wrong.

my popularity, or lack of, with anyone, has never been a concern. Attempting to see MWO grow and become a better game is. Some people seem to take it personal when your ideas don't line up with theirs.

Not my concern, but thank you for speaking up, your dislike of me notwithstanding.

Just curious, does teamkilling the guy who crams in front of you to steal the kill shot knock him out of qualification for the match?

Hmmm, interesting if so...I mean, it would be a shame of course, but accidents do happen.

Yep. Like I said, the survival criteria encourages a "**** you, got mine" mentality, even taken to the extreme. Honestly if not for my restraint, I'd be out there team-killing constantly, usually since the people who already get a kill are shoving teammates out of the way so that they can get one more.

... getting four "Most Damage Assists" in a match, surviving, winning and still not qualifying has really made me bitter about this whole weekend.

But yeah, you being killed by a teammate will disqualify you from the point.

Almost everything wrong with this challenge can be traced back to the survival requirement. Kill-stealing would still exist and be annoying, but at least the challenge wouldn't actively be discouraging nearly every playstyle if the survival requirement.

I'm not sure if it's dumb luck or something else, but the solo queue has been less painful for me than it was for the last couple tournaments. Typical PUG behavior aside, of course. Every few matches you get a few passive folks edging back and forth in the back, or a lance jumping ahead and getting wiped. The positive is that those matches end quickly. I'm seeing some really good matches 1/5 or 1/6th of the time, which is pretty typical for solo queue at my bracket.

I've been trying to limit kills without hurting team DPS too much with so-so sucess.
