Attempting to make a model of the Urbanmech redesign by Bishop Steiner.

08.03.15:

I've textured the left arm. This took a long time, not just to texture, but also to set up the material shaders in cycles. Some of the shaders still need some work done on them. I have also set up a new lighting system. Will probably texture the centre torso next.

Had a go at adding a motion blur effect to bullets in the first render:

Here is the textured UV map for the arm:

Looking good so far. Do you have anything for the legs yet?

>Positively wicked.

The large laser housing and minigun are just SICK.

Body is coming nice too. The only real deviation is the cockpit is contoured differently, but that's hard to tell from a 2d drawing sometimes....and this version is kinda cool and unique looking too. So it works. If you want it more like the original, I can toss together some quicky orthos on them, or any other specific feature in question.

Freaking sweet work dude!

Am I imagining things, or are the hardpoints on the wrong sides?

This looks excellent, though. Good imagination, there's not as much to work with with this 'mech. xD

hardpoints are correct, for this variant. This is the Deputy Dawg, sa special modified pursuit variant used by the Hsien SWAT unit.

They were built off of scrapped mothballed remains of Urbanmechs and Valkyries. So they move at 84 kph, and mounts a large laser, heavy machine gun, srm2 pack and a water cannon for crowd control.

Why not just scan a real-life example:

Just kidding, what you got there is awesomely wicked. Someone should totally do a community Battletech game and hire you as modeler.

Thanks :D Yeah I've been finding the cockpit the hardest to model. That would be great if you could throw some orthos together, but dont worry too much about it.

That's an Urbie load out I could get behind. Sounds like it would be pretty sweet to field.

I keep trying to tell Russ that. Maybe if others tweeted him. I could be like Alex's grunge laborer, knocking out basic concepts for the Master to take and Alex-ize...... it would get them a lot more content faster, give more stylistic diversity....and I come cheap....I live in MExico, lol, and everything I do can be done online, lol. 20k a year and I'm theirs!

Gracias! I wish I knew how to actually model. Maybe If I built it in cryengine or whatever, and sent them the finished product they would consider it, lol. If nothing else I could do QA control on modeling, etc, keep them inline scale wise, etc.

Tengo buen dia!

You know i always imagined the urbanmach to look less like a mech and more like a walking T72 with a cockpit. Something like a short squat look with a massive stub nose AC10. Anyway, these new sketches BS look real nice.

It's not impossible to learn it. I think a lot of your drawing skills (perspective, proportions, etc.) would help you get the hang of it much faster than for most people.
