Forget all the talk about the CT. Yeah, it's frustrating, who cares. They'll fix it eventually.

I just want to talk about how awesome this mech is. It basically has everything I could possibly want in a mech, except jump jets. I don't think I'll be playing any other mechs from now on, on my Clan account. It's just me and my Hellbringer Prime.

Let me count the ways I love this mech.
  • At first glance, the mech's 'head' or 'nose' looks a bit odd. But it's a kind of ugly that grows on you, like an Apache gunship, an A-10 Warthog or a V-22 Osprey. And after looking at it for a couple of days, it's very much like a helicopter gunship Transformer that just morphed into humanoid shape. In a word, it's beautiful.
  • It's a heavy mech with ECM. It's hard to explain how awesome that is. It means you can actually use the mech to pull off daring maneuvers, without constantly worrying about being hit by a gauss round or running into a Streak Crow. While you still have to work with your team, the ECM makes you feel like a stealth fighter, capable of just disappearing and appearing as needed.
  • Compared to a Thunderbolt of equal weight and armour with a STD315 engine, it's slightly faster and has more weight available, even if you give the Thunderbolt Endo-steel. It also has more hardpoints available.
  • Its cockpit is like a ****ing Palantir. If you stare into it for long enough, Sauron will stare back at you and devour your soul. Get the Palantir weapon module for extra range.
  • The cockpit has excellent visibility. Easily one of the best in the game, although it's a little tricky to spot UAVs above. Checkout this screenshot of my Loki looking at a fellow Warhawk who got tired and had to sit down. It's not even zoomed in, you can barely see the cockpit along the edges of the screen.
  • The Hellbringer is one of the most versatile omnimechs in the game. I love the Summoner, but there's basically only 3 or 4 builds that work for the Summoner. There's over 9000 viable weapon combinations for the Hellbringer. It can do ACs, SRMs, lasers, PPCs, Streaks, MGs, gauss, even LRMs. Not only do you get a lot of variation from the modules, but the high number of hardpoints means you always have enough backup weapons when you go for big ballistics and energy weapons. This is where the Summoner & Warhawk fall down. Put a couple of big ACs on them, and you lose precious hardpoints in the process.
  • Did I mention it looks super awesome?
  • It has a energy hardpoint mounted above its cockpit. You can mount a large laser on there, and thanks to ECM, you'll be virtually impossible to detect when you just pop your cockpit over the top of a hill.
  • The Invasion model has very distinct and retro custom geometry arms. I do feel bad that these are only available to people who pre-purchased. I wish this sort of custom geometry could be bought for all mechs, by all players. Make it available for 500 MC, like camo patterns, or something.
  • It has a damned sexy walking animation. We're talking real swag here. At 50 kph, it gently sways from side to side as it walks. At 89 kph, it really puts its shoulders into the running. Reminds me of old MW cutscenes.
  • Did I mention it has ECM? On a mech with 400+ armour and 89 kph speed?
  • It has the coolest torso twisting sound of any mech in the game. It sounds like a Velociraptor purring. That really matters a lot. The torso twisting sound of the Griffin sounds like a malfunctioning vacuum cleaner. I hate listening to that sound, and you hear it alot when you're playing the Griffin, which is one of my favourite mechs. The sound of a Hellbringer twisting its torso makes you feel like a Predator, looking for its next prey.

The most interesting mech in the world?

Or at least it would be, if it wasn't the Corebringer:

I don't usually quote myself. But when I do, it's usually in response to some point I've already addressed.

I think it would look 10x cooler if the arms were bolted directly to the side torsos like a Jagermech or Blackjack.

But I'm crazy.

+1 for positive thread. I like positive threads.

I  the Hellbringer.
This is the best looking mech in the game. I like the look even more than the Locust, which is hard to beat in my book. It has great hardpoints, so many versatile builds, and I agree that the animations and sounds are excellent. Let's not forget - the cockpit. Wow - superclean, and a vintage video recorder / VCR for home movies. You can't beat this mech. I don't care about the CT issues - I've found plenty of ways to survive with this thing. It's fantastic!

Well, there's plenty of cool stuff you could do with the arms. I do like that the weapons are slung low though, as it kind of strengthens the 'gunship' vibes

The timby used to have a simular arm structure.

Whats not to love about the Loki, (the hitboxes will be fixed im sure) The Clan Loki is the clan version of the Warhammer so love it I do. Just wont play mine until the boxes are fixed. But im still working on other things anyway ATM.

Build it with 2 ER PPC in left arm, 3 Sm Pulse in left torso, and right side as shield. Thank me later.

I agree I was playing with this mech in the testing grounds , ( unfortunately I hope they fix the hitboxes soon because I want to enjoy it in Pugs and group queue ) I find this is probably the neatest mech in the inventory. Once they figure out the durability the fun factor of this game will go up by about 50% IMHO. Durability wise It should be worse than a timber close to a summoner, ( a little less) but better than a Mad Dog structurally.

You mean an ERLL in the head, and two in the left torso, 3x ERSL in the arms, with 21DHS?

Head laser is always the best laser...BUT
because the CT is fairly tricky to protect, I like to minimize my time looking at stuff. The burn time on the lasers is enough to get you killed. I prefer poking out and dropping 30 some damage on something at 800m and getting back behind cover before they can notice me. With the cooldown module, you can throw lightning bolts like Zeus himself. The pulse lasers are for anything that gets close, but they should rarely be used.

And, back to the original point, your post just shows why the HBR is the best mech in the game right now. Many different builds, and most of them work well. Plus, it is the coolest looking mech around. Hands down my #1 choice for mech of the year.

At the moment, there's no point, since the CT is pretty much everywhere, so you may as well stay on target. Torso twisting doesn't really do anything. But when they fix it, there's going to be a lot of Hellbringer-Centurion clones, both in terms of using the right side as shield and in terms of using both arms as shields and doing the Black Knight zombie-thing. If you're using an CERLL+Gauss build, you may as well put everything in the torso.

Actually, I kind of hope PGI puts an end to this by giving each omnipod quirks that only work if weapons are equipped. E.g. give the arms a +10% laser cooldown quirk, but only let it apply to the weapons mounted in the arms. Otherwise, I think we'll be seeing a lot of Zombiebringers when they fix the CT.

It's hard to get excited about, or even like, any mech any more when MWO's gameplay is so painful, frustrating, repetitive and tired out.

It looks cool. And I am sure they will fix the CT thing soon. They do seem to have a track record for this since the Orion.

Even WITH the broken hitboxes, this mech is ridiculously brutal. After the CT gets fixed, this thing may dethrone the Timberwolf.

And I think it has my favorite appearance in the game so far. It looks so IMPOSING. It makes most assaults look like sissies.

I'm running it as a hill hump sniper, until the CT fixes. Treating it like a fat Raven 3L. I'll probably try your build, but with the PPCs in the torso, since they sit much higher than in the arms.

And yeah there are a billion builds for this thing. I haven't even experimented with the ballistics yet.
