Oh, Ferro, Endo and Artemis.
That makes sense I guess. There really isn't much in game.
They don't even tell you to avoid Ferro.

That way new players (or any player low on CBills) could get a feel of what mech and build suits them best before making the plunge.

This was kind of a "promise" for UI 2.0 (like a useful smurfy builder) and it's essentially went by the wayside... because... more mechs.
Edit:
It was the same for being able to sell ammo and armor. Those options are not there.
