you guys are way off on what you've done to assaults.. in particular the daisy is only good for finding a spot and standing still. you can not walk over anything!
I guess its a lot like how amonster truck in real life cant jump over cars??
fekn stoopid and totally unrealistic.
end rant

That's because the "Great Death" was meant to stride over the burning wreckage of it's foes

Welcome to the slope climbing code. Enjoy your stay.

It's been over punitive so quite some time, causing mechs to come to a complete stop when trying to walk up even a modest incline. Slowing down makes sense, but outright stopping should only happen when trying to climb something steep like a sheer cliff face.

But PGI doesn't agree with that, so they made giant robots get stuck on pebbles and struggle on terrain where even a human on foot would be barely hindered. This also was the direct cause of the jump jet meta (quite a long time ago) before JJs got nerfed, as everybody used to actually hillhump instead of jump, but that option got removed...

Mechs have knees for a reason.

One of the biggest complaints I have about my Dire... it's not even fun to pilot anymore... especially compared to all my other assaults.

Its the most heavily armed mech in the game, there has to be trade off somewhere. It does look a bit silly though doing the truffle shuffle rather than walking like other mechs.

I would think its glacial turning speed and almost total lack of agility are enough of a tradeoff. Not being able to move over something that should cause little trouble (because knees) is stupid.

Reason being is most other mechs are FKtons faster, and inertia is carrying them over the pebbles, so you hardly notice. The direwhale being a 100 tonner stuck using a 300 engine doesn't go fast enough to get that kind of inertia. They really gotta work on the climbing code...

Pffff, large mechs are giant, killer penguins, yeah, they have knees to, but they can't traverse steep terrain either without the help of jump jets...I mean jumping.

The heaviest mechs we have in game lack a human stride. Their legs are concerned more with supporting the hulking weight of the mech and moving it forward...even if it's a bit like a stiff geriatric...who by the way would have a hard time traversing inclines also.

Swamp has become a nightmare for my Daishe as I seem to get hung up on every twig. Really enjoy that map though. I like new maps. :)

They do need to make hill climbing less punitive.

Once they do that they could probably even buff jumpjets a little.

Piloting a direwhale in PUG land reminds me of this atrocity: http://gamingafter40...-gargamels.html

Not as bad as ET which killed Atari but the instant death fences and grass remind me of the dire whale ability to get stuck on anything resulting in the lite running up behind and going SURPRISE BUTTSEX!
