YAY i got into Open Beta weeeeeh.

And yes i was going trough CB and OB with you, so i know we will have alot of Fun with all the Bugs we will find, and there will be Chaos

But we will go trough with you <3

If Beta tag would bring back knocking mech off their feet again, or turn all community core as it was in CBT - I would be more then pleased and happy. :P

Wow. December 16 looks like it's crunch time for quite a bit of content. Looking forward to CW and it will be understandable to see issues as it is indeed a beta. I'm just looking for longer fights out there.

Obviously, CW isn't finished. They still have allot to do and no more time to do it in. And since Russ promised CW before the end of the year (and doesn't want to break anymore promises) we get an open beta.

If the invasion variants are getting faction skins does that possibly mean we could put regular camo patterns on our invasion variants? I reallllly want to be able to paint my prime variants something more snazy.

It's probably for the best.
There's not much with CW1 to "open beta". Basically all it was is making a guild and that's what we got.
Now that we have interaction in CW2, it's a good thing to put a beta tag on it. It just reminds everyone that this phase is in progress, it's not perfect, and needs refinement.
I am however expecting feature complete CW2, as that is what a Beta is, but from here on in it's just polishing, balancing, and reworking some numbers. If not, then it's an alpha.
When CW2 comes out of beta, I wouldn't be surprised to see a CW3 open beta.

Why are we quirking toward stock builds? Stock builds are generally very bad and the point of this game has become collecting equipment and building personalized mech variants. People's time and money is focused on builds, not just running the cheap stock variant. Quirks were explained as a way to improve substandard chassis and broaden the builds that we see on the field. Trying to appease the stock build/more crowd does not help this.

I for example love stock variants and approve of this change, those changes are making game closer to genuine Battletech experience. Mech are build that way and it will be only that quirks empower it stock configuration.

Wow, only two weeks more to wait for the first awesomeness of CW plus the awesomeness of two new Assault mechs (one fast Clammer and a slow DireCrab for the barbarians).
I can't wait and I'm actually cursing for christmas as I will be offline for two weeks over the holidays. :)

When I saw the released Grid Iron quirks with UAC5, I was very surprised and thought this must be a mistake.
a single UAC5 is usually not working that great while you usually take two of UAC5, AC5 or AC2 to make it worth.
Then I tested it and it was quite fun for its limited role with this build (3MP and one UAC5+3.5t ammo and STD265 engine)
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...114a7ff7ecbec79

Now If I want to keep STD engine, I will have to downgrade to 3MLaser, Gauss +2t ammo and a STD250 like this:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a2ae3e3b76e2280
or go with a XL275 with the MPulse, Gauss+3t ammo like this:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...82ec3e7645f7cd5

But I will look forward to a fast XL hunchback with Gauss quirks, as this was my favorite build before the changes to Gauss, AC10 and AC20 last year.

Wow people are STILL whining about broken promises? I guess all the work PGI has been doing means nothing because it wasnt delivered when you thought it was due.

Thanks for the information. When will the Resistance colors drop? Looking at the new awesome skins will the skins be available on the King Crab and will they be available on Dec 16th?

The Wave 2 skins are dropping when the last mech is dropping so most likely in March when the last Resistance mech is dropped.

On the other hand, giving developers permission in advance to launch shoddy and incomplete work isn't really a better alternative.

What we should be striving for is quality work delivered on time. We should remember that CW is effectively two years late.

So I'm not prepared to tolerate in advance a lot of bugs. I'll accept balancing issues as being legitimate, because it's hard to get balance right in the design stage. Bugs, on the other hand, are minimizable through proper commitment to quality control, and testing.

In any case, I am looking forward to finally seeing CW after all this time.

Actually, I have. I don't code any more, but I am a VP of one of the world' biggest software development companies.

Thanks for playing, next contestant please.

I would usually agree with you, except that, as we have seen through the history of MWO's development, PGI just use the Beta tag as an excuse for not getting things done properly or on time.

That is, they don't Beta software in the way that Betas are intended to be done.. with segregated production vs Beta populations.

There really has only been one beta in MWO, and yes it was weird to be playing a game with the "Beta" tag on it even though it was finished. However, I think you should drop your guard a little and be more open to the new path PGI is on. I am by no means trying to be a white knight or fan boy, just someone who believes in giving people another chance.

PGI has really proven themselves lately and have improved in many ways. I have been around near the beginning in closed beta and have played through the ups and downs of MWO. I think that people should take what Russ/Paul posted at face value, that CW open beta will be just that - an open beta. If the majority of MWO players want an in-depth, truly fun and engaging CW experience, then we should do our best during any beta phase to help with bug detection/reporting as well as relevant and productive feedback. If people have been complaining about not getting the MWO experience they have "been promised" (not referring to you Appogee, just players in general), then now is your chance to contribute and do something about it.

Cheers

Hard to believe that after years of waiting I will finally play some CW next week.

No problem if it will be buggy or unbalanced, I will beta-test the hell out of it. :D

I think you're jumping the gun by a week there.
It drops the 16th not the 9th

I like the change of the Gird Iron quirks and the Dragon.

Now you need to be doing the same to the Catapult K-2.

Be interesting to see how well CW p2 holds up
