^Pretty much this. YLW is one of my favorites, and it looks terribad in my unit's colors. As well as many other Heroes. If you are going for a uniform cohesive look, you can't use heroes, and they are often arguably the better variants in a set of chassis.

Think of it this way: In the old days, Kings, Emperors, and other high nobles wore distinctive armor to distinguish themselves from the rank and file. ;)

(Not directed ay you)

I just don't understand people. They knew exactly what the deal was when they bought hero mechs. But now, some are going apeshit that PGI does not want to change said deal. And yet, when PGI changes some other deal, these same people go apeshit.

Well said.

It's probably a cost-benefit thing. As such, I'm sure if at least 1,000 player pledge to buy at least one Hero mech and do so by forking the appropriate funds, PGI will give in. ;)

The worst that can happen is dozens of threads with hundreds of pages of posts stating how PGI is the Devil's incarnate and that people will rage quit if their demands are not met nao. It happens many times whenever PGI says "No" to something. :(

I don't understand either one of you.
No one is raging, threatening to rage quit, or going "apeshit" over this.

Some of us want more customization over hero mechs. That's it. We know what the current deal is. That's not the argument, so stop bringing it up.
We paid real money, we want more control over our purchase. Period. No threats, no raging. Just a request to PGI coming from paying customers that aren't 100% satisfied with the product.

or who are being realistic, about monetization. What is already spent is spent, and the terms were agreed to. Hence, no rage.

What I am saying at least, is to open up the Hero Chassis to further paint customization will entice NEW buyers more, as many many people actually held off due to things, like moral objections over the Firebrands paint scheme, etc.

And even for many who already own them, it would encourage many more to buy new camo skins and colors.....ALL OF WHICH MAKES PGI MORE MONEY. It's really simple, basic and smart marketing.

Heroes should be the only ones with access to their unique skins, but IMO, and speaking from the point of better monetizing MWO, should not be limited to those. It's a no/low effort win/win, for PGI and any Player who either want to have a different paint job on their hero, be it just because, for unit conformity, or who didn't buy over personal objections......

And PGI gets more money.

Understandably, the Founders, Phoenix, Invasion, Resistance and Norns are NOT what I am referring too, as all have unique geometry which would require a ton of time, effort and money from PGI to reskin. But the Heroes have the stock geometry of the base Chassis, and THUS, it is not a matter of having to remap every skin to the Hero.

Seriously, this is about common sense and smart marketing.

The only people "raging or butthurt", appear to be those who are so vehemently (and irrationally) opposed to the idea.

Did we just experience a Three Faces of Eve moment (well, two anyway) or something? ;)

In any case, we are talking about the MWO player base, where any action of PGI that people find disagreeable results in a rage fest on the forums. That is all.

Because a different model has a different UV, and the hero mechs have different models.

Actually, they do not. Heros are the stock model. Only the special pack models are unique models.

You can color him any way you want, but not change the pattern. It's part of the hero deal ... dunno why. I have 3 and they are all hero pattern only.

because you pay -the cb bonus aside- mostly for the custom camo it already has ;) that´s it, nothing more to it :P

GTFOH people really honestly objected on moral grounds to a skin? Those are irrational people and someone should butt hurt them. Every time I think I've heard the stupidest thing possible on these forums it's trumped by even more stupidity.

Yes how dare people not view the world through your own myopic lense. No Chinese should feel unsettled by a Chinese Mech sporting an Imperial Japanese paint job, given their history. And yes, I know it's silly for Christians and their flying spaghetti monster to have their standards and beliefs too.

Everyone should embrace everything because hey, they are ok to YOUR sensibilities.

Had it been adorned with swastikas and anti-semitic imagery, or painted to look like the Grand Dragon of the KKK, would it still have been acceptable, and stupid for a person to find it objectionable?

I got ya... And via my best education tool since grade school (Google and Wikipedia) I ascertained the ceremonial robe worn by the Grand Dragon typically is green or occasionally red...

Apparently my whit missed it's mark. ^_^

So do we have to create a twitter account and message someone at PGI for this to be seen?
Rarely see any threads here get any mention by the community manager or higher.

If we as customers never voiced any criticism to make their products better, then the game never gets better and we're stuck with things we're unhappy with.

I find your lack of faith in constructive criticism disturbing.

When I read something constructive I'll let you know. What I read is I wanna do this.

At one time Ford told the Customers, You can have your car in any color you want. As long as it's black. Sometimes a consumer has to suck it up and accept Stuff for what it is and be happy or go without.

I understand the "Want" of being able to change the Hero's camo. But I also understand NOT being allowed to. I guess being a parent give me a wider view of why, "Cause I said so" is sometimes necessary to accept.

You can't always get what you want.
