I Paid $30 For My Hero Mech...why Can't I Put Custom Camo On Him?

I forked over the cost of a brand new video game for one mech. I should get to color him any way I frickin' please.
Not only that, PGI is losing out on possible camo sales by not letting anyone do it. They're so gun-ho for cash with things like limited premium time, why wouldn't they open up more customization options especially for mechs we can only buy with real cash?
Boggles my mind.

Were you not aware that you couldn't change the camo spec?

I like the fixed camo, I think it distinguishes the hero mechs from regular ones and the color change is enough to distinguish yours above that.
But then, I don't even mind the fixed invasion camo that everyone is crying about so meh.

1) Some patterns i don't like much <- personal opinion
2) Some patterns allow you to change very little (Ember)
3) Some patterns don't work with unit schemes (Only 2 colors, or mainly fixed)
4) Some patterns are way to glossy
5) Some patterns pose a disadvantage for the mech, see Yen Low Wang. If you see the pattern you know that you need to shoot that right arm, and it will probably run an XL engine.
6) I don't feel the need to show off that i bought something with real money. I'd much rather pay further real money to have it customized the way i like it.
Edit:
7) Some patterns start to look old. Compare the YLW to the special Ah and you know what i mean.

Ya cuz the words Yen Lo Wang, dont give it away when I am looking at it. It's totally the paint job.
Everything else on your list is just personal preference and not a fact.

I never said that my points are the universal truth, and i truly don't get why you seem to be personally offended by my post to cause such a bitchy response, but here is mine:
1) personal opinion
2) fact, prove: Ember (mainly blueish grey)
3) fact, prove: Ember (mainly blueish grey), YLW (only 2 colors, schemes may need 3)
4) Some are glossy for a fact, i personally don't like that much. (See Arrow, Hellslinger)
5) You know its a YLW even if it's under ECM or you've locked something else. You don't need to move your crosshair over it or anything. If it appears somewhere on your screen you know it, unless it's mono-colored ofc. Since it's configuration options are somewhat limited, you know what you are facing in an instant.
6) personal opinion

Maybe you could change one.... I remember being thrilled when they let us change colors though. And I have drank since then, my memory may not be 100% accurate. It was a loong time ago....

As a big fan of this game, I personally wish they made me want to spend money more...premium time, a LCT hero, far as i've gone til they make some better heroes and make them special enough to want to spend. Most of the current heroes aren't the greatest value....do I want a mech that has instantly-recognizable camo, sub-optimal quirks, and some slightly different hardpoints? Nope...I'll use the free variant.
If I pay for something, wouldn't I want it to be better? Non-heroes: Better quirks, better paint. At least for me.

Absolutely. The Founder's Catapult can barely be changed at all, but it's not like it matters as this mech is borderline useless in the current meta.

Having the Hero skin as a SELECTABLE skin only available on the purchased mech would be best. But also allow the paid mech to do what the free mechs can do, aka allocate different camos.
And yes, we can and should keep asking if we want this feature included. It harms nobody.

You paid $30 for Kai's Mech. It is famous cause it is Kai's Mech.
Steve McQueen's Mustang is Famous:

This one isn't

A collector will pay more for Steve's Stang because it's Steve's Stang. Changing the paint would ruin the value of it.
