Not really the IS is the only one who could bring more than 2 assaults. at max its 24 assaults.

I dont want to see anything higher than a 240 limit either. A 240 limit already allows 24 assaults to be on the field at the same time as it is!!!111!1!11

you make it seem like all drop decks will be,
IS= AS7+AS7+ LCT+LCT= 240Tons,
Clan=DWF+ WHK +KFX +MLX=240Tons(O right MLX wont be available for C-Bills till Feb3)
Clan(redo)=WHK+WHK+ ADR+ADR=240Tons
Ok now go, on tell me that's an even Match?

Ok fine, but I made my point and its valid. Its way above 24 assaults per match if Locusts are in the mix possibly up to 48 like I said.!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont have a problem with 240 I have a problem with the idea there could potentially more than the current 48 assault mech maximum!!!!!!111

From now on I will end everything with !!!!!!1!!111111 to make it clear how important all this stuff is!!!1!!111111111 :)

I better put a smiley because maybe some of the loons think I am serious.

I imagine most drop decks will be mediums and heavies because they don't have to play lights.

I don't have a problem with 240 either so long as there are some planets with less than 240 max and some with more than 240 max!!!111!!!1111111!1111111!!!111!1 :) :) :) :) :) :)

What we need is a planet with a drop limit of 400! so I can enjoy the chaos of 96, 100 ton assault mechs shooting at each other

I think this is a great idea (the OP.) If CW doesn't offer forced variety, we're only going to see the same things over and over. Sure there's going to be a meta for each weight limit, but that beats just having one. The more PGI can do to make CW a deep and textured experience the better.

If a planet has a drop limit of 400 thats alot more than 4 assault mech thats 4 x 24 and that adds up to alot, I cant count that high but I know its to much!!!!!1111!!

Ignoring the lore aspects, mechanically that's not a bad idea. Having different planets for (reasons) unable to support heavier or lighter mechs (generally speaking), so you could shift the drop weight lighter by lowering the cap/minimum or by raising the cap and minimum to have heavier mech battles. It would make various planets that much more unique in trying to take it over/defend.

(4 assault mechs * 12 players) * 2 teams = 96

doesn't even have to "support" them. Logistics, availability, importance, etc. Heavier mechs cost more to use, so are more likely to be assigned to heavier importance worlds. Lighter mechs, to lower importance. So, some might be mission parameters, some planetary requirements (some worlds, for instance might require only jump capable mechs), etc.

Well, if they mean that in the same sense that they meant UI2.0 will eventually get its Smurfy lab...i.e. promising it and then getting all the dev resources sucked up by other major features for the next year...then bleh.

I'd like to see it now, TBH. It doesn't require any coding, why not start it off this way? Or at least end its Beta with a reset and an installation of the new values.

You could also see it this way.

the weight limit isn't planet fixed but House priority fixed. In that I mean each round of planet assaults each house has a certain tonnage to divide between its different objectives. for example one planet it really wants gets a 350ton limit and then the 2 next planets get 250 and 260 and one minor one gets only 200
In the same way they allocate tonnage to planet defenses considering what their priorities are. The added kick is that they can invest into a planets defense (or because it has a factory etc) some planets have a default buff of say 10 to 50 tons.

In the end this indeed makes for matches which are uneven but hey that is the nature of war. The point here is that you have to make the best out of what you have with sometimes a planetary defense of 200 vs an offensive of 400. Sure they are going to get their butts kicked on paper but in reality ? its going to be all about the players skill as teams of well organized players will be able to do wonders with only lights and mediums vs heavies and assaults.

And in order for players to not go on rage quits because they lost, actually make rewards take into account the difference of tonnage so even if they "loose" making the most of it is going to be rewarding.

This will bring the epic stories that we love reading from the MW novels and history .

They haven't given us a clear comment on whether variations will be present at release. And they haven't said how low the tonnage variations will go, so I decided to offer my input on that.

All I am sure of at launch for this expansion is that its a beta. Means its due for alot of changes and upgrades, they said as much. Anyones guess how it will start and how quickly they could make additions.
