Thanks Sean.

I actually like this one's skin much more than the AS7-S and CN9-AH.

It appears the 3rd hardpoint is on the inner side of the claw. I wondered about that... I couldn't see where they would fit the 3rd hardpoint.

Thanks!

so basically, from the cockpit you are peeking up her skirt?

You cheeky Canadians!

How many LBX10s can you fit? can you get 4 with enough ammo and a backup or 2? that is what i want.

You can still only put two in it. However, you could put 4 machine guns on too. SRMs, LPL would make this thing formidible in close quarters.

Or you could do 2xLBX10, 2xAC5. That would lend more versatility to it.

We will continue to do it this way!

Fine with me, but real opponents please! (Cattra in a 6xLBX2 DWF... kinda took my attention away from the KC...)

I agree, that was kind of off-putting. There's gimping yourself to make a show fight and there's ridiculously crippling yourself to do the same thing. Cattra did the latter on at least that occasion.

And admittedly the hexa-AC2 part of the video wasn't complimentary to the King Crab. But that's not a fault of the crab, it's the ridiculous heat issues AC2s have.

KGC was designed as a straight upgrade from the Atlas, and was more than capable of taking an Atlas down with little trouble. The only reason they didn't replace them was because all examples of the KGC left with Kerensky.

Also, the KGC has a C&C variant, the KGC-010.

So... Yeah. :/

You're incorrect.
Atlas
The Atlas is probably the best-known BattleMech to ever set foot on the modern battlefield. Designed with specifications from Aleksandr Kerensky in 2755[2 http://www.sarna.net...las_(BattleMech)
King Crab
Designed by Cosara Weaponries in 2741 at the request of General Aleksandr Kerensky for an assault 'Mech that could "cripple or destroy another 'Mech in one salvo," http://www.sarna.net/wiki/King_Crab

The Atlas is newer than the King Crab. The Atlas was meant more for commanding as well as combat, the King Crab was meant to simply be a beast.

Oh nifty. But wait!

"Designed by Cosara Weaponries in 2741 at the request of General Aleksandr Kerensky for an assault 'Mech that could 'cripple or destroy another 'Mech in one salvo,' the King Crab is one of the most fearsome BattleMechs to have ever existed. Its primary weapons, super-heavy autocannons mounted in its arms, can strip the armor off of any 'Mech in a few bursts."

"All told the 010 model was more than capable of taking down an Atlas, but the entire line left with Kerensky during the Exodus and even knowledge of the design's existence became lost during the Succession Wars."

From: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/King_Crab

The KGC-010 was superior to the Atlas as both an Assault and a Command Mech. Did I get my dates wrong? Yes. But it doesn't mean my point is wrong.

You can't be an upgrade of something that doesn't exist yet.

"While an excellent close-range combatant, the King Crab proved to be less versatile as a command vehicle, a role eventually filled by the Atlas"

taken from your own quoted source...

You really shouldn't make up assumptions when trying to disprove another posters argument. Nowhere in the entire article does it ever state directly or imply indirectly that the King Crab is/was superior to an Atlas as a command mech.

THAT, you made up yourself.

Who needs commands?! All we need is to know is who has a red triangle over their heads!

In a tunnel, xL Engine will be perfectly acceptable... anywhere else.. might be viable if you don't get surrounded, due to fast torso twist... Also gives one a reason to face tank and have mid range dps weapons rather than long OR short range alpha weapons...

Will definitely be trying 4ac5 2 ac2 at least once. Then back to "more reasonable" things like 2 guass with 2 ac2's for tracer rounds with mlas's for backup

I have sort of an odd question.....

How do the weapons in the claws fire straight ahead if they are angled off the sides like in the picture?

And, using reading comprehension, you would see I stated: "Did I get my dates wrong? Yes."

Which means I got my dates wrong.

Actually, the fact it says "More than capable of taking down an Atlas" means it is in fact superior to the Atlas. Just as well, an inferior combat chassis does not make a good Command platform. One needs to be able to defend themselves as a Commander, seeing as how they're going to be a prime target.

King Crab is superior to the Atlas in that regard.

Probably the same way the widely spaced nipple energy hardpoints on the Awesome can somehow converge on a target at a distance of 1 meter: Handwavium.

no... again you're jumping to conclusions with no facts.

perhaps its not a good command mech BECAUSE its too powerful therefore leading you male heros to charge into fights and not hang back to command and direct. Perhaps in their fictional world they decided its comms gear wasn't as good as the atlas or there is someother issue with it. A GOOD command shouldnt need to fight if their commands are sound so being able to knock down another Atlas is irrelevant to the argument of what makes a good command mech.

The authors and designers of the background lore for this world decided, regardless of what you dream of otherwise, that, as the wrote and stated, the King Crab was NOT a versatile command platform, a role filled by the Atlas instead. Unless you know more about the world THEY created than THEY do?
