I mean, come on, seriously, people don't even really use them as "backup weapons" any more other than on a few niche builds and as main guns on lights, oh except pulse lasers just became way more attractive.

ML doesn't need a buff.

SL are still pretty lame compared to SPL.

The MPL finally got the proper heat, so perhaps there's a chance.

I don't advocate lower heat for a return to TT values, I advocate lower heat for game balance reasons.

For example: the ISERPPC has TT heat value, and is basically an entirely pointless weapon. It requires over *twenty* DHS to keep a single ISERPPC cool, and that is ridiculous.

That being said, for most IS mehs we see them taking long range energy options or ballistic options over short range energy options, because MLs and SLs are too hot to justify taking them over trying to fit in more heat sinks for most effective builds.

I agree on the ER PPCs both IS and Clan. I honestly, no matter how hard I try, cannot get them to work efficiently into any builds. Generally it is just too much heat for too little return.

IS MLs are fine. They are the go to weapon on almost all my IS mechs.

According to TT we should've had 2.5 times higher dissipation, heat shouldn't have been an issue to begin with.

The ML could be argued as being already good, but the SL however absolutely needs its heat reduced if not something in addition to that.

And yes, Monkey, Flamers should also be reworked to not be useless. B)

I wouldn't be at all surprised if we saw a spl nerf in the near future considering about 75%+ of the lights theses days consists of the FSR-A 8xSpl build. Probably ghost heat change, knowing PGI. Not necessarily saying that's bad. Just my guess.

Yes, let us nerf an entire weapons system because the lone mech you gave uber-quirks with that weapon is viewed by some as OP.

*facepalm*

Are you talking about never overheating with a single ER PPC? That is kind of a silly goal. With 10 engine DHS you can fire a single ER PPC for 41 seconds before shutdown.

And the quirks weren't even "uber," more like +15% to range and -15% heat for Small Pulses.

Pulse laser range was reduced to justify the extra tonnage so people would use them, further reducing SL and ML heat would make it a pointless change.
