Not complaining but this sure has me scratching my head

I almost have this new Mech mastered, I just need 10,000 C-bills to unlock the extra slot
The problem I have is on the Mech management screen (where you see fire power, speed .etc.)
It says my heat management is 2 or maxed out

But this dang Mech is overheating
I do have a cool down module but someone told me the cool down is really a rate of fire module so I pulled it off

Any ideas on what to do

exercise some trigger discipline.

Posting the mech and the build might actually help in getting an informed response.

post the fit. that said, most mechs are fine with 1.3/4 of heat...2.0 probably means you're a bit unoptimised.

And thus really shouldn't over heat... Just sayin.

A build would really help us figure out exactly what is going on.

Heat is a part of the game, managing it takes a lot of finesse.

Also do remember that the Heat Management value in the mech lab is only accurate on heat neutral maps. "Hot" maps will reduce your cooling efficiency while "Cold" maps will increase your cooling efficiency.

In addition some maps have Heat Trap Hazards that increase your heat level when you are in them. The magma on Terra Therma is an example of this.

Edit: Also, you may be triggering Ghost Heat with your Alpha, which is extra heat generated out of thin air to punish firing large groups of certain weapons at once.

We'll need to see your build. Two mechs can each have a rating of 1.3 and that mean very different things for each mech.

I run mine a bit tigher than that, sometimes going as low as 1.1 depending on the weapons I am using.

yeah it's pretty mech dependant, using smurfy as a ref most of mine run between 27-35%

My guess is you run a Dual AC20 build. Jager? K2? I find it hard to believe any energy weapon build would have a heat efficiency of 2. Thus: ballistics.

It's very heat efficient, yes (might even be a rating of 2, not sure) but once you fire those twin AC20's together you'll get a massive heat spike (Larger than any other weapon iirc) Stagger your fire, one after the other with decent time in between, and you'll be much better.

bingo. What are you shooting? You can put 2 ac20 on a dire and get 2heat score but if you doublefire it you will over heat.

Here is what I did. I went into the training ground, and fired at a wall. Count how many times you can fire your different weapon groups without overheating, then commit that to memory. It is easy to lose track of your heat in the heat (lol) of battle, but if you have a basic understanding of your baseline limits, then you can manage it better.

Also I usually go to the Terra Therma map as well, just to see what its like under horrible heat conditions as well, just test out all the environments.

This has helped me, but keep in mind I am a bit of a newbie, so I am sure more people on here can offer better advice :)

Speak for yourself, I enjoy Finessing my mechs.
Every night.
Usually with my Joystick.

Must be an AC40 build. Sorry but firing two AC20s give crazy heat.

to OP, most likely what is happening is your weapon loadout is cool, but you don't have enough heatsinks to cool down fast. Then once you get into a battle you have to fire your weapons often, you hit that heat threshold at which you can't cool down fast enough. You need to add more heatsinks.
