I'm glad it received the PPC quirks. Now maybe I can use it like a good fire support mech. High mount long range damage should be better than low mount. Using dual A/C 10s for that role just wasn't working that well for me no matter how much I wanted it to.
Besides, if all else fails, still have the A/C 10 cool down module anyway.
The buff to CT is just needed period.

I'll have to look at the quirks closer, but if it received projectile travel time buffs, that is the big one. Heat on 2 PPCs is fairly manageable, the travel time is the one that kills PPCs more than anything it seems.

Additional Structure (RA&LA) +10
Additional Structure (CT) +10
PPC Velocity +20%
Medium Laser Duration -7.5%
Laser Duration -7.5%
Energy Weapon Heat Gen -10%
Ballistic Weapon Range +10%
Contrast and compare to the old:
Medium Laser Range +7.5%
Energy Weapon Range +7.5%
Medium Laser Duration -7.5%
Laser Weapon Duration -7.5%
Ballistic Weapon Cooldown +10%
PPC velocity +20% means the base 950 goes up to 1140, almost matching the 1150 of an AC5.

The Ballistic range increase is...odd, but I suppose it will make some happy.
Still, seems pretty nice. Get the PPC cool down module too, and I think we are cooking

I kind of agree with you. I still think the main reason the quirks weren't more aggressive was because the K2 has two large ballistic slots. I still think PGI is concerned with high alpha shots.
On the plus side though, the Thunderbolt'S high mount PPCs don't have the articulation arms can bring. That plus the Thunderbolt is huge and can't torso twist like the Catapult.
We will have to see how the K2 does I suppose.

The Catapult allows for XL engine with relatively low risk, the same is not true for the TB and the JM. The Catapult can also gain a couple of tons if you prefer weapons fully in torso sections.
It will be a decent medium range support mech with a good alpha. Of course it is not like it will be really competitive but definitely a step in the right direction for a mech that saw nothing but nerfs in the last 3 years.
More than quirks it would need a 10% scaling in order to be really competitive but I don't believe they will ever do that.

Well, the buff that was given was just very underwhelming. So the people who wanted to see it may not applaud too loudly. But the anti-PPC crowd are going to be louder now than before.

Yep. One of the many examples of really weird quirk decisions. Making the Firebrand and TDR-9S great PPC carriers, while giving the CPLT-K2 a token buff.
PGI had 4 different buffs they could have given the PPC. They could have gone with range, speed, heat or cooldown. Now, the problem with the K2 PPC-build has always been lack of DPS. Depending on what support weapon you pick for your PPCs, you're either going to do too little damage or run too hot and slow. So we needed a heat or cooldown buff. They gave us a speed buff, which just shows they didn't quite understand the problem.
It's like when you ask your parents for a ticket to a Sepultura concert and they buy a Linkin Park cover album. I appreciate the effort, but...

That's a nice way of saying it has a ginormous CT. I can't think of another heavy that goes down so easily.
That's why the CT structure buff is important.
That is also why the Catapult is most at home as a fire support mech. If you try to get up close and dirty, your going to have a bad time.
That was maybe one of the bad parts about running the dual A/C10 build. To really take advantage of the cool down quirk you had to expose yourself to incoming fire a bit more than I liked and the CT just melted.
I'm hoping the PPC quirks (high mounted) will allow the mech to hang back a bit more and lob shots from behind cover (leaving it less exposed).
Odd that the Internal Structure buff to the CT comes now. It might have been more useful with the ballistic cool down buff previously.
