Follow up to my post a month or two ago: I have TWC and I'm in Dallas, Texas. I've gotten 400+ pings for about 20 games in a row now and "rejoin" isn't randomly removing the latency anymore..... I've pretty much stopped playing. I still get on every now and then just to see if it is still lagging and because I like being frustrated...

There have been allot of DDOS attacks on US peer networks this past week, which has mostly been the cause of these recent lag spikes. However, since the DDOS attacks have seemed to have subsided, I have noticed that traffic throttling seems to have resumed during peak hours, so I resubbed to Pingzapper again to have stable ping.

John, I see that Pingzapper has added a profile for MWO, however, it looks like they were not given enough guidance on how to do it properly. The Pingzapper profile requires you to use MWOpatcher.exe, which can not be launched directly, it also does not allow you to check UDP. Luckily you can still set up a custom profile that works correctly.

I was around 120 ping after the second patch of October, dropped to 80 ping second last week of February and then am now at 130 ping since Tuesday (patch day). Austin, TX, Time Warner.

Mine's back to awful again - really bad hitreg last night, getting 60-70% packet loss to chi-1-6k.il.us and mtl-1-6k-qc.ca

I'm getting intermittent (60-70%) packet loss to
192.99.146.32 (10-30% packet loss)
198.27.73.188 (80-100% packet loss)
198.27.73.175 (40-50% packet loss)

my ping to 192.99.146.86 is presently 527, doesn't change if I vpn. Maybe they're getting hammered again?

Good to here. Maybe you can provide them with the MWO logo for the profile too, like the other big-name game profiles?

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this but just to add to the picture;

I'm in the UK & for most of a day say GMT 7am to GMT 6pm, my ping won't go over 150 & is often below 100, making MWO a joy.

However, after about 6pm, seemingly every day, I flick from good ping to 600 ping, I'll get one to two good matches, then a bad match, then repeat.

I've looked into things my end as far as my competence will allow & not found anything remarkable & nothing that would explain the variance. It's manageable as is, but given that others are experiencing ping issues I figured I'd add to the list in case my own slice of weirdness adds to the overall picture.

It is just the primetime data throttling that the US Peer Networks (that you are being routed through on the way to Canada) do.

Hmm, well thanks for the info, great to understand the issue! Though also a slight disappointment as it rather sounds like its something to just grin & bear. Which is a pain because evenings here are when I'm most able to play & when the problem occurs. Still, nothing I can do about it in that event I suspect? Weird how it comes & goes though?

Again though, thanks for educating me :D

I've been getting pings consistently in the mid-60s to mid-70s for the last couple of weeks without a VPN. The best pings ever for me from TWC in Austin.

Very unstable this weekend, but I did seem to have a better connection when I was not using VPN.

My ping has been stable for a while now, but it is still 30ms - 40ms higher than it was before the server move.

Well, unfortunately the PGI servers were moved far to the East, so So Cal is almost as far away from the servers as some parts of Europe.

Oh yeah - it was just odd, normally 100-110, then for a while day it was back to pre-move pings (with pre-move hitreg!!!)
