Atlas was balanced for Gauss Rifles with no charge-up and one that did not explode so easily. Another reason why the Gauss Charge-up has no place in a MechWarrior game. It shafts all the mechs that can only carry one.

if i did get an atlas id master 3 and sell all but the ddc. i really dont like the atlas cockpit, it has that narrow fov that has ruined some very desirable mechs for me (like the cent, shadowhawk, and atlas of course). the cockpit really ruins the mech. will probibly get one at some point, just not right now.

The reason you take an atlas is easy.

Because you LIKE the atlas.

JESUS CHRIST PEOPLE WHO CARES IF IT'S OPTIMAL... IF IT'S TOP TIER.

God I'm so tired of hearing people go on and on about how "This mech sucks because it's totally outclassed by X."

Who the flying fet cares?! Just use what you like, and quit complaining. I swear I come to these forums and all I see is bitchmoangroanwhinecryrage.... there's so little positivity here. And I mean, sure, part of that comes from all the BS PGI's pulled over 3 years... but good lord, there has to be a smidge of good cheer left in these forums right?

You just wait and get shocked when this game goes further its planned way to be a comp game. Appearently thats the easiest way to get as much profit as you can without spending much effort into the game. in order to polish it or add content for example

pop off the crab's arms.. Dip um in butter.. and now you have a slow as heck under powered medium..?

you are ******* stupid. King crab arms are extremely heavily armored. With the quirks they arms have more total HP than the side torsos.

the actual recipe to deal with a crab it's to wait till your team cores it and then you suddenly appear and save your team from that scary crab

As has been agreed upon by countless pilots, both clan and IS, the Atlas needs torso durability quirks (not the tiny garbage ones PGI gave it) but ones that allow it to take enough hits to down a Daisy (Direwolf, sorry I'm an old multiplayer pilot from previous titles...) and keep moving. IMO the Atlas should be the epitome of a zombie mech. Taking damage to the point where the opposing pilot runs away cause it just won't go down.

That was always my thoughts and opinion of the Atlas, it may be different for some of you, but the Atlas definitely needs torso durability increase quirks.

Nope. Nothing should outshoot a Daishi. Thats her only claim to fame. You dont facetank a direwolf in ANYTHING. not even another dire wolf. But if you sneak up behind it while hes not paying attention....It would be nice if the Atlas didn't run so hot with those brawling configs.

Only reason I can see is if you own the Boar's Head you can put in a 400 in it and with speed tweak go 71 which is 7kph faster than the fastest King Crab (have to get used to putting the King in front of Crab since the actual crab is coming soon). The other Atlasses besides the DDC...nah, there is none.

There's something to be said for the when piloting a mech you love, you tend to play better/smarter/confident. If you like the Atlus better, then that can be a good enough reason to pub it up with it.

You have to pay real money to get an Atlas with as many Laser hard points like some Firestarters......thats a big flaw in the game design, imho.

Looks to me so far that the Atlas is easier to shove a bigger engine in. While that 325 or 350 isn't huge, it makes a difference in torso twisting, and 5 KPH is a lot on an Assault mech.

ofc its easier... with less and worse hardpoints. my 000 AC40 crab runs a 360 standard. 0000 2gauss+3LL use a 325. the 4uac5 build got a 320 in it.

and i run 350 on both AS7-S with AC20 4SRM6, AS7-BH 6MPL AC20.

Low slung arms is a long-lasting issue. And yet K.Crab has the same arms, his height is lower, so arms are located closer (or "higher") to cockpit. With this K.Crab way better then atlas, tho it has no ECM, so often suffers from LRM rains

I would take the Atlas simply because its an Atlas its been and probably will always be my favorite mech. I don't care if I am handicapped or its considered " low tier" To me Atlas is a Atlas and makes it all the more sweet too put down them meta mechs or Tier one mechs I see every where. For me its the love of the mech and story behind it. I have face down Direwolfs and King Crabs in direct combat. In the right hands a Atlas is still a force too be reckon with. And like Sarlic I ain't gonna be changing this mech any time just because its not as good as some other mechs.

You wouldn't, the Atlas is a clear victim of power creep.

Unless it gets Zeus tier armor quirks it's low slung weapon placement, hitbox shapes that make it really easy to clearly target components, and relatively low hardpoint count relegate it to third stringer tier at best.

You tank far better in the 80 ton Zeus than the 100 ton Atlas.

I don't play assaults much. I have a couple of Atlas' and now a King Crab.

The KIng Crab I received has 6! arm mounted ballistic hard points ... 2 energy, 2 missile and an AMS. One of the other KIng crabs appears to have 2 ballistic, 4 energy and 4 missile. The frontal profile on a King Crab looks to be a bit smaller than an Atlas ... hard to say for sure since it might be lower and wider. Otherwise they start off with basically the same armor and structure.

The KIng Crab would seem to have greater choice in loadouts and more devastating loadouts.

Unless the KIng Crab hit boxes somehow make it much more vulnerable than an Atlas ... why would I ever drive one of my Atlas' over the King Crab?

(Not a troll ... I am actually curious since the King Crab at least appears to be strictly better than an Atlas ... not sure yet how it compares to a Dire Wolf though I think the DW still has the edge since 6 CUAC5 and similar builds are hard to beat ... though the King Crab can do 2xGauss + 2xERPPC for lots of PPFLD fun ... if you can get the coordination correct)

Important stuff like fun and nostalgia...

Why take Atlas over King Crab?

The fact that it's the best looking Assault mech in the game (if not the entirety of Battletech) doesn't count?
I know, i know. I'm vain, but I only pilot mechs, i can [Redacted].

You would be surprised. Some people find the Atlas ugly!
