Quirks You Can Customize?

I realize this could create some serious OP mechs but here is an idea.
What if you could sacrifice your weapon specific perk for a general perk of half the value? Or change the weapon specific to a different weapon at half the value?
Would this work? Or just a dream?
Thoughts?

Although the notion of the Firestarters get Flamer quirks in addition to existing quirks would be solid.

The idea of stacking wouldn't be any different than a mech that has Energy Heat Gen and ML Heat Gen.
What this does is sacrifices the higher number, for something you would want. It would be simple to not allow the same choice to be made twice, thus eliminating any OP stacking you refer to.

actually modules are that kind of quirks, yet I think modules are not the right way to be implemented, since they are rather newb unfriendly.
Then you have the pilot skills, which are similar, but with the fact of every mehc having the same, and that you can unlock them all, itt is not making something unique. thats why it kinda sucks in my opinion to be called "skills" it more like general upgrades.

Maybe that would work better than changing quirks....I figured it would be less work and quicker this way.

But the idea behind quirks was to take unpopular and unplayed mechs (who were unpopular and unplayed for good reasons) and make them better. Not to give good mechs the quirks you want to make them better.PGI purposefully did not give Jagermechs AC/20 quirks. That's because that is already a strong build and didn't need to be directly buffed. But if people could they would buff it and eliminate the diversity encouraged by the quirk system.
