QuadMechs (Goliath, Scorpion, Tarantula) would be great in MW:O!
LAM's (Land-Air Mechs) would be great in MW:O! (VERY VERY Rare) and Need Very Large Maps to use right
Tanks, VTols, Infantry = You have to Eject out of your mech, Congrats your a Basic Rifle man until you can get back to base or pickup by a Friendly APC.
Elementals Once the Clans hit.

Protomechs are OK, but they need to work in teams like elementals, which could be tricky. (plus they won't be invented for another 15 years in game)
Collosalmechs won't be invented for almost 100 years in game, so I doubt we'll see any of them.

Of course just killing all the enemy Mechs made life easier to complete the escort home.

Tarantula.
Really though, if you're anywhere near competent, you'll always end up waiting for those lazy bums to finish repairing for a minute or so.

I redid the whole interior of my cockpit while waiting one drop. It needed it though... really. LOL

so the must be planning on somehow making the Ares canon.
Yeah, but I hate the Ares.
Tripedal 'mechs are just plain silly.
Also, ProtoMechs go up to 15 tons now.

What do the jade turkeys have to do with protos?
The Smoke Jaguars developed them first.
As for quads, they're rather unpopular in general.
The only major user of quads is Cochraine's Goliaths, using the 'Mechs found in an old Star League repair depot (enough to outfit a batallion). They saw action only once before the 4th Succession War since Max Liao didn't want to risk losing them. And was subsequently destroyed in 3028 on St. Andre.
By 3085, we got around 17 quad designs out of the 500 or so existing designs.
In 3049, the IS has a grand total of THREE quad designs, one of which is extinct.
I like Super-Heavy BattleMechs, I like Protos.
Don't really care about the other two.
LAMs in part since we don't have construction rules for those.

Aff!
That's right. Just look at "The jungle: Smoke Jaguar Hunting Grounds"
I've posted some stuff about ProtoMechs. Some of them look really strange.

Would like to see quadmechs.
I am completely against LAMs in the game (but not in real life and would love to see a decent Robotech sim).
If colossal mechs are in the canon sure why not introduce at the time they are ment to appear.
Same with protos but got a feeling most of us would end up hating them but not too bothered either way. Also potential lag hazards.

Collosals would have problems with smaller targets. and are quite slow it seems.
LAMs would be turkey shooting. Not well armored or armed(very limited slotting) but highly mobile.
Protos would be BA but thats Combined arms as said.
Quad mechs look fun. Highly mobile, one or two heavy weapons,a bunch of small, fast shooters.

Protomechs and especially Colossal mechs won't be available in the universe for a while yet. So they definately won't be in at launch.
As for LAMs - in order to make them any good the devs would have to add Aerospace or Conventional fighters to the game - which may not happen. So they may be a moot point.

The quads I would love to see. Though again the Thunderfox was the only one I really liked and it was a post Jihad. Unless of course they bend the timeline a bit. Either way I see quads as a big opportunity if they played different than the bipeds unlike MW2 which didn't feel very different at all. Most of the others I didn't like looked all that great but with a makeover I'm sure they could sell the idea.

It's a reboot of the Mechwarrior franchise - not of Battletech history.
From Jihad - Final Reconing:
"Although numerous attempts were made since the development of the BattleMech, practical limitations in chassis, myomer, and actuator demands—coupled with the skyrocketing weight-to-power ratios of combat-grade fusion engines - made the development of ’Mechs massing more than 100 tons unfeasible for practical deployment. While a few specialized designs did emerge in industrial applications (typically relegated to use in low-gravity environments where their oversized mass was less crippling), the failure of superheavy ’Mech concepts throughout the ages were legion. By far the most infamous was the original Behemoth design, developed under the brief reign of Stefan Amaris in the final years of the original Star League. Also known as "Amaris’ Folly", the superheavy Behemoth never made it past the prototype stage. Its legendary failure would live on through the Succession Wars, and was often cited as the reasons no BattleMech could ever break the hundred-ton barrier…
That was, until the Word of Blake unveiled its deadly "Omega"-class BattleMechs during the fateful defense of Terra in 3078."
So, as long as the devs stick to cannon, practical superheavy mechs are still 30 years out.

If this was a combined-arms game like MWLL, I'd absolutely LOVE to have land-air-mechs. They'd be so much fun to use. Not particularly good (paper armor, weak guns, hard to use), mind you, but flipping through the modes, blasting mechs and hopping onto buildings would be amazing.

No problem with smaller targets.
The fastest they can go is 3/5/0 MP or 54 km/h.
PSAs might increase that to 86,4 km/h, though.

Hopefully the dev's make that wish come true. The early models (Goliath, Scorpion, Tarantula) would bring some alternations into the new game.
