I haven't had the chance to drop in one yet. However, the reports from team mates and forums are convincing me that I probably don't want to. Is it really that bad? LLaser turret defenses. spawn camping 12 man comp teams rolling pugs and lesser 12 mans and no MM. I'm gonna give it a shot this weekend and see how it goes. I don't like the sound of it though. What are peoples take on CW so far?

Not so much the comp teams, but the even numbers and defenders getting turrets and drop ship lasers tend to make it pretty freaking ********. Someone didn't think that through real well.

Once they fix the FPS issue it will be fun.

Haven't had this much fun for quite some time. And this is one of my favourite games to begin with.

Not exactly sure what you mean

Almost every CW thread I see is overwhelmingly positive.

Of course it's gonna favor the defenders, or planets would get steamrolled constantly.

Yep if the fps problems and cockpit bug are removed and the alerts are more relevant and easier to see then they are done here. :) More maps and features please and grats on a doing such a great job on the expansion to the guys and girls building this game.

I've done about a dozen drops, solo, sometimes in a random team & sometimes filling the last spot in a premade (same goes for opponents), win some, lose some, either way today has been the most fun I've ever had playing this game.

Aside from my FPS issues, I have no idea what OP is talking about. Has been very fun so far.

Is CW an elitist thing? I don't consider myself a "hardcore" or that good of a player. Do you survive long enough to at least enjoy it or are you dead in seconds?

It is amazing. I have not had this much fun since early release/closed beta (maybe ever?) It will be better in big groups but damn it is fun.

IIRC, someone was suggesting your K/D needed to be this tall to even consider playing. It was in positive, whole, numbers … <_<

The rest of us can only hope the PuG, and normal group, ques are no-longer plagued by Release Valves, now that they can play for C-bills somewhere else.

No you are not dead in seconds, and nor is it an elitist thing. Tons of fun and requires strategy rather than meta....

Seems most of what we are getting is empty drops. We get a whole crew together to defend a place that needs defenders, and see that instead it's a "counter attack" and there is not an opposing team defending... since it's actually our territory but whoever was attacking before is no longer playing or has moved on to other stuff.

I actually was just on Turtle Bay, and several things struck me... the units were totally mixed, from all houses... so I assumed it must have been against a clan attacker... but again, there was no opposing force and it stated we were "counter attacking" which literally I guess was just recapturing the installation, that had no defending mechs, since no real players were choosing to be there against us.

I even disconnected through the usual client crash on entering match and when I was rejoining, before I hit the rejoin button, even though my whole team was now in match and "rejoin" was still an option, it was flashing the DEFEND Turtle Bay rally, I guess to try to get some enemy mechs into the fight.

My best guess, the enemy had 2 wins on there, but had no staying power, gave up trying to conquer the place but the system feels the "need" to make you counter attack to take away those two wins, so that a given system is no longer in contention. So if you really want a planet, you as a team have to attack it what... seven times or more in a row, to fully have it and not offer the enemy the chance to take it back while the rest of your team is offline... even then the ebb and flow means probably it will be taken back ALSO with no opposition, if the game lets you attack and no defenders ever rally.

Extremely fun. Just had an attack match where if we had had one more second our Tbolt would have destroyed the cannon. Most hair-splitting match I've had in months and so much fun.

I'll break it down from my perspective. CW is an amazing new chunk of game that requires different, LOGICAL strategies to be successful in. It is also a no holds barred experience, it is up to you to pull your weight since there is no preset company configuration, meaning for each role you step into you need to put out the numbers to help push your team to victory.

But, it isn't some comp team, bigoted, narcissistic, doof infested wasteland like some people wanted to make it out to be. There are plenty of regular joes putting in the work to take the gates down and secure victories for their faction, and you can do the same. I do recommend, however, that you stick to solo queue until you have a good handful of times in your recent memory that you've carried the team and been top dog on the battlefield. You'll need the skills to do well in a given situation because you can't practice on these new maps, and matches don't whiz by to try new strategies. Also, there will be times when everybody derps on your team. Nature of the beast, just gotta try and motivate them.

But lastly, it is about having fun with it. I've had about 4 extremely good games, 2 wins, 2 losses. They were the best games I've ever played in MWO. And I'm nowhere near that good of a player, so if I can do it, so can you. We need you on the front if you can hold your own weight. So don't be afraid, just jump in.

...

DAVION FOREVER!
