Loving the new PPC quirks on my VND-1R. (the same PPC buff is on the 1AA, but honestly, I prefer LRMs on it, so I only PPC in my 1R)

VND-1R

Is it hot? Not as much as it seems. Because I pretty much never combine the lasers and PPCs....unless it's a shot of opportunity. But if I use my mobility and stay at range? I can fire my PPCs nonstop 16 times before overheating. That's some pretty good PPC spam.

with the new projectile speed boost, the PPC is cooking along at 1330 m/s. Much more useful at range again. Combine that with the jump capability and agility of the chassis, and it also can poptart pretty well in a pinch, while repositioning (or trying to minimize exposure).

Of course, I know, thanks to our forum experts, that the chassis is DoA. But for those who don't care, don't mind being sniggered at and willing to have some fun, give it a whirl. The little Badger of Tikonov might just surprise you.

Cheers!

it's amazing how the "pros" are so often wrong about "bad" mechs when those "bad" mechs are used properly and in the right hands.

Usually it equates to "I can't use it so it MUST be "bad" because my elite skillz should make all mechs uber awesome!"

Ventilator 1R - 2xPPC+3xML's
Lasenator 1AA - 3xERLL's rest is max XL-E and JJ's.
Brawlenator 1X - AC10+2xMPL
Penetrator1X - Gauss Rifle+2xML's or 2xSPL's.

See, I am not an especially great pilot, and I limit myself with my controls.
I do ok, and am reasonably good in lights, alright in heavies, to mediocre in assaults.
I suck in mediums though.
Even the Cicada, which for all intents and purposes is a basically light mech.
The 1X though, I do alright in. (not the 1AA though, still awful in that).

So really, good mech, bad mech, even good variant, bad variant generally comes down to the pilot.

Plus, the Vindicator has a head laser.
Gotta love head lasers!

mechs seem a little slow for me, have assaults that go faster than the Vindi!

your assaults can do 110? Impressive.

I doubt any of them even go 93 kph (max speed of the 1R). Or have a 125º torso twist, or the jump capability.

I'm loving the Vindicators lately, especially the SIB and 1X. Having great success with VND-1X in Community Warfare drops... great speed, jets, decent firepower, low tonnage cost, perfect for CW.

Hi currently looking for a new mech to master( only enough room for one new mech chassis, and this mech has always caught my eye).
I don't believe any mech is "DoA" just misunderstood, I've learned that all mechs have a play style with them, and that's the hard part to learn, some are similar to others while others are radically different, but this is one of the aspects of MechWarrior I like, anyway I digress I'm currently torn between the Vindicator and the Awesome or Battlemaster, I mainly pilot light mechs personal favourite the locust ;), I was wondering if you guys could give any useful input on my choices here?

I'd say Vindi over the Awesome and Battlemaster being you're a light pilot like me.
I have the Awesome and while OK (and goign to be getting more soon), it's slow like all assaults.
The Vindi is at least reasonably nippy.

If a locust jock, you are already a master of DoA-FU. Thus the Vindy with it's cat like reflexes, should beckon you.

Now if you went with House Davion...that would be truly historical.

The Federated Suns would always welcome you.

6 years in MI6 until a joint operation planned by Nondi Steiner during the War of 3039 cost me a leg. Driving this Hunchback is the only way I could get back into action. 3 years with Snord's Irregulars, and a free agent ever since.

Will definitely get it next then and start mastering it.
Thanks for the input really helpful, yeah The locust is the mech I'm best with even before quirks :), certainly brings in the C-bills when I need it.

Thanks again and may your skills stay sharp <o.

I am gladdened to see that there is still some love for the Vindis. I haven't really played them much since the Quirkening ( too many other mechs to work) but maybe I need to pick them back up.

I loved the vindi even before the quirks (played them exclusively during the last mech tournament and did pretty well ending up in second place). Since the quirk pass I've changed by builds up some on my 1AA and 1X. More PPCs like everyone else and they have done well for me in CW games. My 1X and 1AA are my long range support/skirmishers used in the early part of the match and my SIB is my closer range mech for mid/late game battles in the base. I also will bring along a midrange brawler assault with these 3, usually a banshee of some sort, for when there is need for a big push.

It's a good time to be a vindicator pilot!

Im levelling mine now. I gave my 1X (My favourite one) an ERPPC, 3MG's and a Medium Laser.

However the most fun build is my Wubdicator. 5 Medium Pulse Lasers and an LRM5. Very scary up close, especially when ambushing at the gates.
