I still find it the least overall powerful of my HBKs. The gauss still loses to the ac20 in CQB, and a single gauss sniping, is usually less effective than other uses for the chassis as a weapons platform, IMO.
Perhaps I will run it heavier over the next few days and see if my results/opinion shift.

4G is a wrecking machine with AC20
4H is pretty solid with AC10 and the energy bonuses
4P laser vomit is lovely
4SP SRM6 is just insanity

4J LRM10 vomit

I don't own a HBK-GI, but I can only imagine that it is equally as beastly as the rest.
But those MPulse bonuses are giving you about the same range as the ThunderWub 5SS which should give you around 320m range before damage starts dropping off.

While I pilot only 3 of those above and still level these mechs I can't agree with this statement.
Yes, those quirks help, bu I'm nowhere near AC20 wrecking or ARM6 insanity. Even the 9ML build is still hot as hell.
I'd really like to see a vid of that gauss grid iron and how good it really plays out.
If you want to talk about over the top quirks, start with huggin for SRM4 spam or Cent-D and Dragon 1N. Those quirks are powerful. Those for the hunchbacks I find more or less in line with little helpers on other mechs.

Even those you list, have huge trade-offs.
Huginn is still fragile as heck and has to be near PBR.
CN9-Ds autoshotty is fast, but really only vicious AFTER armor is breached.
DRG-1N and WVR-6K place all their eggs in one relatively easy to destroy basket...and then are worthless.
TDR-5SS is probably one of the closest to broken, but it' still has to get real close to be truly effective.
All can do evil things....in the right situation. Just like the HBK.
The 4G for instance. Was supposed to be a medium mech, that in city fighting and ambushes, could make assault mech scrap their drawers. The Doubled Armor, essentially ended that. The high RoF brings SOME of that back, but since it is still being delivered over multiple shots, is spreadable. And still being carried by a mech with Medium Mech armor, and Assault Mech speed.
Yet people still cry it's OP.

The real Bishop wouldn't sell out to the dragon.

The REAL Bishop was the favorite nephew of Frederick Steiner. Just how much love you think that gets ya on Tharkad?

Jazz, just remember all the suck we had to endure taking out our GI over the months. Let's just enjoy it.

Gauss on a GI is the wrong way to run it!
I mean, it still gets a juicy 25% ballistic cooldown, right?
Throw 2xAC5 or 1xAC5/1xUAC5 on there, 7-8 tons of ammo, a coupla medium lasers, and an XL255 on there (or STD200 if you like being slow).
I got the Grid Iron with my bonus HBK Mastery Pack over Black Friday, and it's been nothing but awesome to play.
Try it out! Surprise yourself.

I'd post some screenshots, but you'd get more info just checking out my GI threads on Mechspecs. (!)
