Hi everyone,

is it possible to customize the founders mechs to another version? For example the Catapult comes as A1: 2x LRM15, 4x MedLasers - can I change this loadout to the K2-variant with 2x PPCs instead of the LRMs?

I believe the hardpoints are static per varient, so all you can do is swap for weapons of the same hardpoint type.

Its all subject to beta balancing ofc, but I doubt they'll allow full-freedom given that they've opted for this hardpoint system.

I'm pretty sure the loadouts are customizable, but them mech will still be labled a founders mech. That's my beleif anyways after looking at the mechlab photos. Cant be too much fun not being able to customize mechs you pay money for.

I believe you'll be able to modify the Mech but you'll be limited what you can do by the Hard points on the chosen variant. The K2 has Energy weapon hard point each arm. The C1 has missile weapon points in the arms so you could not configure the Mechs in exactly the same way.

Probably what Jonneh said. Most likely have to keep to the hardpoint system.

So far the info points to that you will get the "prime" variant which has the fixed hardpoints. So you can modify your Founders mech in those limits and you can unlock the other variants. But i guess you will have to buy the other variant and so wont have the founder bonus on those.

Founder's mechs are identical to their stock variants and can be customized accordingly. They are distinguished only by their unique paint job and 25% c-bill bonus.

I think its been said you could replace the medium laser hardpoints with PPCs, though you'd end up almost not using your missile pod locations at all, unless maybe you can still fit on a couple LRM5's or something with the remaining tonnage.

if i understand it correctly, every mech has 4 variants, each with a (possibly) different hard point setup. The question is, can you switch between this hard point layout without losing the founders bonus? Or do i have to buy the new variant like a new mech?

i would really like to take the founders catapult with the PPCs on top ;)

From this thread http://mwomercs.com/...378#entry403378, the prime variants offered in the Founders package are:

Atlas AS7-D
Hunchback HBK-4G
Catapult CPLT-C1
Jenner JR7-D

So if you want PPCs instead of LRMs in the "arms" of your catapult, you'll have to buy the K2 variant with c-bills or whatever other way they may allow.

;/ they should have been a ton clearer with what you get and what you can do with these things on the ads, but there is a ton of info about now if you look.

Am I the only one annoyed that Russ referred to them a "prime," given that they are not omnimechs?

A bit. I'm mostly annoyed though at people thinking the IS-'Mechs are like Omnimechs thanks to MW4 mostly.

Oh, you can only get the Catapult with the LRMs on top unless they change things later. You can use the in-game currency (still not sure if it's C-bill or MC) to buy the PPC Catapult (if you get a founder's pack) but it will not have the 25% C-bill bonus.

As far as we've seen, Variants are effectively different mechs. Your founder's Catapult is and always will be a C1. If you want a K2, you'll have to get it separately, and it won't be a founder's.

If it's any consolation, the C1 can be customized with torso-mounted PPCs regardless.

The founders mechs are the specific variants as listed on the founder info pages / emails. That means they have the same hardpoints as the non-founders mechs of the same model - just with a little bit different skin and the C-bill boost (+25%).

*However* - if you are worried about the Catapult specifically, it has at least 2 missile hardpoints (one in each arm) and 4 energy hardpoints in the torso. You should be able to swap out a couple of the medium lasers for PPCs if you really want, though it would probably require dropping the LRM racks to do so. I may look into doing that myself on my founder Cat, depending on how well I like the LRMs / fire support role.

Well in a way yes, you still had to occupy beam weapon spots with beam weapons. True omni tech would be completely interchangeable. A clan Omni mech say a Madcat could load LBX cannons in its arms or PPCs where its missle racks were, where as an atlas could only put an LBX in its torso. But they did give people more freedom with mechs than cannon would allow.

If I am mistaken correct me.

The answer is yes, you could easily make the standard CPLT into a K2.

In fact, I would argue that it's a superior version, as the weapons would be in the torso and not the 'ears'.

If they are using the standard BT rules, you are quite free to configure your mech with the stuff that you want. It all depends on tonnage and armor and ammo and so on. And it depends on your experience. You can built your mech with a lot of weapons and so on, but if you don't have the big engine, it will just walk around with 20km/h and reacts like a sitting duck. So you always have to have a good balance with all the stuff you build inside. But well it depends on what PG made out of it and how many choices (engine, ammo, armor...) you have.

ok, accepted. It won't work with the founder cat.

But as you can see on the left, i bought it anyway.

i'm curious if there will be an Arrow IV system for the missile hard points...
