I have a great fondness for the 55ton Jumper in the table top Battletech universe. A movement profile of of 5/8/5 combined with a solid weapons loadout opens up a lot of doors, or should I say roles.

Sadly, while we have 3 50 ton Mechs announced, none of them are confirmed jump variants and none of them feel as flexible I'd like. We'll wait and see what happens there.

There are some great 55 jumpers that fit well into the 3049 timeslot. Unfortunately, they are all unseen. (for more on what that means, see this thread ) Suffice it to say that getting one of these mechs into MWO might take extra effort on the Devs part. Let's help them out and let them know which one is our favorite.

All three are 55 ton Inner Sphere mechs with a top speed of 86 km/h. All three are Jump capable.

I selected the model that Sarna.net describes first, rather than as a variant. All three have at least one variant that is also suitable for the 3049 time period.

For more info, look here.

Griffin
Shadow Hawk
Wolverine

Edit - I added the 2nd question and info on the Scorpion. Also unseen, slightly faster, non-jumping, quad mech.
Scorpion

Shadow Hawk is a bit like the dragon with various weapon ranges and role capabilities, hard to argue with options!

Shadow Hawk. :)

Wolverine is a joke and Griffin cdoesn' stand a chance at closer ranges. And most importantly of all, it looks cool. ;)

2nd question added for die-hard scorpion advocates :)

I considered adding it orriginally, but didn't for 2 primary reasons
  • The most common version doesn't jusmp
  • It is a quad mech. I like quads, but seeing as how it is already unseen, that is two flaming hoops for the Devs to jump through

The interesting thing about the unseen is that many of them have been redesigned. They slightly resemble the originals, and carry the same loadout, but have been changed enough that Harmony Gold can get their panties untied.

Have a look at the Warhammer redesign, I think it looks better after then before. More lean and mean, like a dual-PPC boxer.

I've engaged in a few battles with those 3 'Mechs versing each other (on the table top). Every battle has lasted a long time. It's more about maneuvering than actual firepower. Never tried with a Scorpion however.

I'd love to see all of them included. In fact, I'd love to see EVERY 'Mech (even the really bad ones).

The Griffin is a long range support 'Mech and the Wolverine can be vicious up close.

For me, the performance of a battlemech is characterized primarily by it's movement profile and it's weapons loadout. Heat levels, armor coverage and special equipment do play roles but movement profile and weapons loadout seem to play larger ones.

At 55 tons, there seems to be a very nice balance of movement profile and weapons loadout. ;)

I would like to see the Wolverine, it is even more intimidating than an Atlas, because everyone knows you shouldn't **** off a mech that carries a purse

Shadowhawk for me. Sentimental reasons aside, it should offer quite a bit of customizability: At the very least it would have 1 ballistic, 2 missile and 1 energy hardpoints (possibly even 1 more energy and ballistic hardpoints, I'd guess). Given that it's pretty fast and has jump jets, there's plenty of room for optimization - it all depends an what you want to do with it.

Scorpion would be nice for a change.

But if not a quad, then Griffin. The default loadout rocks. I mean, it's a decent jump-sniper out of the box. And not the MW4 kind of 4ERPPC BK, but the real fast stuff that is made to get around ant switch positions. It's a role yet uncovered by other released mechs (besides, MAYBE, K2, but it's slow). Wolverine and Shadow Hawk are not that juicy when stock. And, quite frankly, their roles sort of overlap with Dragon and Jenner.

I voted Wolverine...if I could get some of the other varients (WVR-7K) I would be very happy because then I could modify it into exactly what I wanted. Same goes for the Shadow Hawk because I feel like that default loadout is just to wimpy to be any real threat.

"HELLO!" says the Dervish

EDIT: its a real shame we have no 55 ton jumpers in the med bracket...but have 3 50 ton mechs? atleast the trenchbucket has a variant that can jump. but 3 mechs of the same mass...ugh.
