Plus he said he wants to play the new game modes...

If your friends are unwilling to compromise from time to time, no offense but that's on you guys and the entire concept of CW shouldn't be altered for that. You also have pub queue to drop in.
To insinuate that you have to "ignore" one of your friends is silly.

Get some real (virtual) friends, who are less selfish.

I'm also curious why there's no outrage over everyone just having two accts but there is over having two factions on one acct.
Because thats not how the game was made...its made to be Faction v Faction and IS v Clan. Sorry but all other games modes have ways for you to play together.
Having two accounts if the only remedy for this. I also dont think that should ever be allowed you pick one faction and thats it. Otherwise you are a traitor and a spy.

Or to insinuate that PGI is to blame is rather comical.....

Why's that? I am all clan yet i am buying resistance pack so i can use them in the PUBLIC queue.
I think they will keep selling mechs just fine....There is no need to mix the groups. PGI has stated time and time again that this is FACTION WARFARE. If you wanna ride a clan mech and rock an IS banner you have to do that in the PUBLIC QUEUE.

It'd be every 7 days, not 9.
If you take 1 week contracts, there's no 2 day waiting period after the contract expires. The 2 day waiting period is only if you break a contract that isn't up yet.

You want to play with either person whenever you feel like it, but ONLY in the CW queue because it's what THEY care about.
So the public queue, which you could play with them in, isn't good enough.
If your two friends both played in competitive Football Leagues on different teams, you wouldn't be able to join either one at will, either.
The amount of freedom you are requesting to simply 'do whatever you feel like at the time' in a system structured on separated factions and harder-core gameplay seems unreasonable.

There is still competitive play in the group queue.
Great matches to be had in the solo or group queue
It's not "easy mode" or lesser skill required in any way as some would have you believe
You do have more new players I would think though but everyone's gotta start somewhere

In OP's case, the decision of which friend to ignore is the Hard part.
Good luck, OP...

nah, it would be more like "My GF doesn't like me playing MWO, you should let her drop in and play candy crush in her cockpit while I play MWO so she won't be mad. You're ****** game design and lack of accommodating her are ruining my relationship and if you don't correct this MWO WILL die because it's not inclusive enough"

If I could do so without having to wait 2 days and for a reasonable cbill cost I'd be fine with it. (I should be able to have a one week contract while my unit has a 'perm' contract) - I'm fine with the 200k cbills where it's at. (penalty for switching but worth it to play with friends).

As mentioned just above you, wanting to play new game modes/maps is important. Give me a queue with them and I'd be just fine with that. (Including a queue which does/doesn't keep it all IS/Clan per team)

The hardcore play / challenge is on CW battles. I hope people don't think the Hardcore thing about CW is the mini-map before the lobby.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying, not that I'm talking about alienating the people who play this game with friends, that's how all the leet f2p games made all their money, alienating people with real world friends...

Feel free to ask PGI to include stuff like that in the pub queue then. You really expect an entire portion of the game to cater to something like this thread just because?
That's a bit silly.
You can't always have your cake and eat it too. PGI does a great job at offering you multiple way sof playing the game without requiring you to play in anything in particular.

OP you need to get rid of the Hunchback friend, he's clearly the worse of the two at making robot choices, AND he probably wants to join some awful faction like Liao to boot.
Drop him faster than the 2012 robot he's driving.

Are you saying that the units who are for keeping CW faction restricted are composed only of people who aren't friends in real life?
