Not sure what you are talking about? From the town meeting last night the direction of MWO is not the urban mech. Its focus will be on units/teams/12 man.

That's because last nights town hall meeting was mostly about CW, because it just came out. This game would be dull if it was super duper always-cereal.

Walluh.....MWO is all about CW. Yes, MWO will always have a pug server for solo players, but the focus of this game will be CW and the Urban mech is not CW

The you don't get CW. CW is about taking and defending territory. And having limited logistics to do it with.

A defender taking Urbanmechs is not needing much mobility, and it allows for a Highlander or other up to 90 tonner to be taken.

Certainly no one is saying they are ideal for every world, or match, and certainly not for Attacking. But just because something doesn't fit your narrow perception of working, acceptable, etc, does not make it so.

The game isn't JUST CW, nor will it ever be. And, assuming the UrbanMech gets some good quirkin', or we get a map like the kind it was..well, made for, they'd work just fine in CW. Get off your high horse thinking you know what is and isn't for MWO/CW, because you don't.

Urbanmech can come equipped with ECM, Jump Jets. If the 12 ton cannon offends you, we can replace that and its ammo with 13 medium lasers.

360 torso twist, Full speed forward and backwards. You can have a basicly invisible guard at the gun generators.


Your making the mistake of pitting your try-hard mech against a STOCK urbanmech, look at the hard time you getting just with that! Although stock urbanmech is still useful, Most folks don't run stock versions of IS mechs.

Lets not get into a conversation that doesn't help the development of CW. From reading and listening to PGI I do not believe that a urban mech is on their "to do list". I think we can agree we love this game and want it around for a very long time. Lets just wait and see.....Thanks MAV!!!

Ah, so you work for PGI now. Thanks for clearing that up.


Let's clear this part up:

PGI is, at the end of the day, in business to make money. While you can't wrap your myopic vision around it enough to understand, a Hero Urbanmech would very likely outsell every other IS Hero made to date, including the Heavy Metal.

Because the whales, the people spending money here, really are that crazy for their battletech lore, and that includes the Urbie.

So it is indeed possible PGI will never make it.... and it would be a financially idiotic move on their part.

You know what would help the game stay around for a long time?

Urbanmech.

Why?

Because a giant portion of the playerbase would THROW MONEY AT IT AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT.

Anyone who thinks this moneymaker would be a waste of time has no idea what the BT/MW fanbase is, nor anything about profit making. It's like saying the Marauder is a waste of time, or the Warhammer.

-100% energy heat
-100% energy beam duration
+300% PPC and ERPPC velocity
-100% ballistic heat
+300% ballistic rate of fire
+300% AC20 velocity
-100% UAC jam chance

I would melt down all of my mechs for a lance of that.

Speed wise with masteries you can have a Urbanmech running over 80 kph with jump jets, ECM, armor comparable to a heavy, armed with ac 2 cannon and 4 medium lasers.


You see a lance of these jump over that gate wall your in some ****.

actually, an:

-ac10 cooldown equivalent to the gauss on the GI (25% ballistic, 25% ac10)
-Small laser cooldown and heat generation quirk (Since tbh, due to the engine size, SHS might be needed)
-some serious armor/internal structure buff quirks to represent it's "tough" nature
-and some very good twist ranges and rates
-Generous engine cap, ala the Panther (150-180 range, probably)
-Generous hardpoint inflation, considering the other inherent limitations.

would be more than enough. And all in line with other tier 5 mechs already in use.

Never going to be used on conquest mode, and a poor choice to attack on Invasion, but a solid addition on Defense.

Certainly not for everyone, but very doable.

if this game was just always about 100% effectiveness, we wouldn't have locusts, commandos, myst lynx, kitfox, adder, vindicator, trebs, kintaros, ice ferrets, novas, dragons, quickdraws, orions, summoners, awesomes, gargoyles and warhawks.

do you see the problem with your line of thinking?
