This event was actually pretty nice.
Pros: Unlike how we usually only have a few days for a tournament/event, we are given two weeks to accomplish this goal. To compliment that,
people stated that they have received e-mails containing the code "holiday2014" to which gives a full week of premium time. This was offered last year as well. Also, the event supports all play styles. You can go in solo or group and choose whichever game mode you want to at least gain something in return. If for some reason you didn't know about the event beforehand, you don't need to opt-in. However, you do need to redeem them from the main post. I assume they want to see how many people log in to their profile/website
More Pros: The best thing they did was make the rewards in the
Stocking Stuffer Event easy to get. You may recall
To The Victors event where you had to "Get 1 or more Kill, Get 1 or more Assist, Survive, and Win the match." This time around, all you need is a match score of 30. This allows people to redeem their item for at least participating in battle, regardless of what happens to your team or round.
Rewards: I've heard complaints of how random or cheap the items are. Personally, I think the items are worth it. Not counting community warfare, I have received...
- 28 c-bills (50,000 to 100,000 and one 500,000 reward)
- 15 GXP (100 to 400)
- 14 MC (5 to 40)
- 11 Consumables (Improved UAV, Improved Coolant Pod, Priority Artillery Strike, and Priority Air Strike)
- 2 Naughty Items (Flamer and Medium Laser)
- 2 Cockpit Items (Snow Globe and Lump of Coal)
- 3 Other (2 Mechbays and 1 day of Premium Time)
I'm pretty sure the snow globe was actually a reward for the
12 Christmas Wins from last year. The actual icon under your challenges tab in your profile has a picture of a tree, which is a completely different cockpit item. I did not participate in the event so I don't know which reward people received.
I should also point out that it is possible to obtain a few other items I was not able to. They are listed in the original post.
Bonus Reward: It is worth mentioning how cheap the
New Year items are. I received a total of 350 MC (worth 1 cheap cockpit item or 1 mech bay slot). It is enough to buy all the items except for the urbanmech. If you missed it from the
Win 25 Matches Challenge, now is your chance to get the 3050 hologram.
Cons: At the beginning of the event, they offered the option to convert
50 Mech XP to GXP for 1 MC. This is double the normal amount of 25 Mech XP to GXP for 1 MC. This happened within a day's time before giving a chance for ones to use their won MC in the event. And as a side point, the required match score of 30 does not take into consideration any specific objectives. Without fully testing it, dedicating yourself to just taking bases will not meet that goal.
