And isn't visually similar to the Longbow aside from that (totally different torso and leg structures, and even the arms on the XBow have elbows and are not giant barrels attached to the shoulder), nor attached to a chassis HG knows is one of the Unseen based off one of the Macross Designs.

PGI really missed a golden opportunity here with their Transverse debacle. If they had announced the development of the other elements of the Battletech IP into a persistent universe, I would have refunded all my SC monies and given it to PGI. March my mech into my dropship and book passage to the front on a jumpship or two... Leave my mech and go to planetary locations, stores, salvage yards, etc... It wouldn't be easy, but integration with the current game would have been possible.

Many of us told Russ and Bryan the same thing. Yeah, they wanted to spread their wings and have their "own" thing. But the universe was just too crowded, with better version so of that thing, with more established developers, none of whom were coming off 2 years of bad publicity and will.
I told them, Make it Aerotech, and have it affect the same global CW map. It might not be possible for the two to have directly played together/against each other, but having the 2 games affecting the same CW Map? Not an issue.
Well, you can see how far that went. Though I have a feeling they are trying something with it, since Bryan has disappeared yet again. So either he is tinkering with Transverse 2.0/ listened and they are going to try to integrate it, or he's hanging out with Jimmy Hoffa.
By the way...does Transverse mean you "identify" as being a galactic body or something? Your own little universe?

Guess we can only speculate on the word play there.... Could mean anything from trans/across/transporting across the verse to trans/across dimensional planes, entering another verse.....
+1 Aerotech (or a catchier name)!

Besides, I have a feeling the Mauler might be the most anticipated mech from Resistance II anyway. Still kinda bums me out though, because I'd take a Heavy over an Assault any day.

From what I recall from the now-defunct Transverse forum, the primary association was supposed to be the strong transhumanist bent of the in-game universe - kind of the same thing that the EVE universe has going.
(IIRC, there were also plans for a faction of "they took it too far..." types.)
There was also the "across universes/dimensions" angle - their idea of a FTL drive system was a "hyperspace/subspace drive" more in the style of those seen in Babylon 5, as opposed to a BT or BSG style "jump drive" or a Star Trek style "warp drive", that moves the ship into an alternate space.

As an assault pilot who loves ballistics, I'm super excited with the Mauler.
Dual Gauss (with armor, ammo and backup weapons), quad AC/5s ou UAC/5s (or even quad LBX-10s, if you are really crazy), six AC/2s... It can't get much better than this, really. Well, at least until we get the Blood Asp (very high mounted ballistics + jump + ECM).

I'm curious how the Wolfhound will play out. I keep thinking it will be a Panther but with torso mounted energy. It will be interesting I think.
The Crab seems like a decent energy medium. I know the whole laser vomit thing is getting old, but really the Medium formula tends to be centered around a ballistic (whether torso or arm mounted). It will be kind of nice to have a more energy centric medium for the IS. Plus the Crab looks like a German WWII fighter plane with limbs, and that makes me chuckle a bit. Because of this, when I get s Crab, I'm naming them after German planes, WWII aces, or heck maybe the cast of Hogan's Heroes lol.
Either case, I'm getting a bit excited for Resistance II.

I wouldn't go quite that far, but I'll admit that the Resistance variant of the Black Knight was a huge motivator.
I did also want the extra 4 Resistance I mechs, the Wolfhound and another good energy IS medium to compliment my Hunch 4P.
Still, I hope the BK looks real close to the concept art. Knowing PGI's record, it's about a 50/50 chance.
