- release all the Macross Unseens: Wasp, Stinger, Valkyrie, Ostroc, Crusader, Longbow;
- release the remaining early Invasion Clan Omnimechs: Fire Moth, Pouncer, Huntsman, Kingfisher;
- release one last IS Succession Wars pack;
- release the late Invasion Clan Omnimechs: Fire Falcon, Mongrel, Black Lanner, Turkina;
- release the "counter invasion" IS mechs;
- release at least one more IIC pack;
- release at least one Clan Battlemech pack;
- release IS Omnimechs;
- release all the MW4 chassis...
...and there would still be room for more!

To note, all of this isn't even scraping the bottom of the barrel. There are some legitimately good mechs left in here. Especially (for the Clan side) now that Clan battlemechs are in the picture. I mean, some god awful ones, too, but several good ones.

The only shame is that PGI shows no desire to introduce Quadmechs. JV might want a Scorpion, but I want my Stalking Spider. Posted Image

  • Arm instead of ST mounted Gauss.
  • Higher arms position.
  • Arms which block big part of the torso.
And the Blood Asp has a protruding head (CT) which you can shoot from the side.

And of course, a BattleMech construction which is not necessarily better.

Ok, another Mech suggestion:

Dragoon

PGI really struggles to give the IS a heavy Mech with ECM. The CTF-0X for example, as mediocre as it is, actually has no Guardian ECM. It has EWE, combining ECM and BAP but shorter ranger and for 7.5 tons, which is cutting egde technology in 3025 but thoroughly useless in 3050, hence the Guardian ECM. The Tempest is also a curious case as you know...

The Dragoon however features a Guardian ECM, high hardpoints, and diverse variants including one with high engine cap.

Yes, the Dragoon is not used in the timeframe of MWO, but the same is true for a lot of Mechs.

I reckon the Anvil is close to that.

Well King Crabs should be more rare than unicorn farts, but my Locust has so many King Crab legs piled up, it's not going to be able to find enough garlic butter in the universe to savor them all....

Most houses have at least 1 King Crab in each 100 assault mechs in our timeline. It's rare? Yes, but not THAT rare.

Compared to how often I see them in matches... Usually 2-3 Assualt Mechs are King Crabs...

Mechs no longer in use by 3050, for being extinct, but present in MWO:
  • LCT-1M
  • FS9-A
  • FS9-K
  • PNT-8Z
  • (PHX-2)
  • BJ-1X
  • CRB-27sl
  • CTF-0X
  • ZEU-5S

Mechs no longer in use by 3050, especially not by the IS, for being cached in Clan HW depots:
  • (PHX-1b)
  • CRB-27b
  • GRF-2N
  • HGN-732b
  • KGC-000b

Then one could mention Mechs only used by factions we have not game, ComStar e.g., which would be quite a list actually.

And then one could mention rare Mechs like the KGC-0000.

Come on, the quick matches have nothing to do with the "real battles". When you see Smoke Jaguar, piloting IS mechs, teaming up with Kuritan pilots, in Clan mechs against Jade Falcons in IS mechs backed by Steiner in Clan mechs, the number of King Crabs in the field SHOULD NOT be a concern.

Nice, thanks!!

(not against the rules - the devs publicly displayed those images)

I wasn't talking quick play, I see them in team play and CW, a lot in CW... The most common Mech I see in CW is the trial Catapult....

Right. I am all for rare Mechs in MWO, even CW if one wishes. That is why I do not mind extinct Mechs at all, in fact one of my favourites is the Zeus 5S and I am so glad I can pilot it in MWO.

There's also the Penetrator

Bandersnatch

Dragon Fire (a personal favourite)
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Dragon_Fire

All are 75 tonners & would be good mechs in MWO.

I don't recall the Fire Falcon ever having a crotch laser.

At least the Dragon Fire could gain the most when implemented in MWO. Look its impossible to make it uglier.
On the other hand - the Marauder doesn't need its own copy.

How could/would PGI implement the Grand Dragon? Would it be it's own separate chassis or for ease, wrapped in as another variant of the current Dragon?

Quote

The 'Mech was originally a simple variant of the Dragon with some modifications...

Reading further as I understand it, that the Dragon assembly lines were all retooled to produce the Grand Dragon as an upgrade to the original Dragon. The "Grand Dragon" variant could incorporate some standard lostech (maybe even ECM) and a unique hardpoint loadout.

Some PGI "adjustments" and the variants that could work with current tech and give some much needed utility to the chassis is the DRG-1G (the original "Grand", give it ECM) and possibly the DRG-7K (has MASC, just replace the MRMs with SRMS).

Conclusion: The Grand Dragon itself doesn't have enough tech friendly canon variants to stand on it's own, but the inclusion of some adjusted Grand Dragon variants can give some much needed utility to the Dragon as additional variants. Most notably the inclusion of ECM and MASC. The "Grand" Dragon variants could even get some slight geometry changes.

Side note: Since when did the forums stop word wrapping in source mode and does anyone else have problems where it's like the Home key is getting pressed while typing setting your cursor to the start of the line in the middle of a sentence?

I wish the Dragon DRG-1G is added in the game as a simple Dragon's variant. From Sarna:

Quote

The Grand Dragon is the successful follow-up to the Dragon BattleMech. The 'Mech was originally a simple variant of the Dragon with some modifications, chiefly replacing the autocannon with a particle projection cannon, introduced around the end of the Fourth Succession War.

Quote

DRG-1G
Arguably the original Grand Dragon produced in 3024, this 'Mech is little more than a variant of the Dragon.

No need to add a new "chassis" (specially because the DRG-5K is nothing but an upgraded DRG-1G and the other variants are too far ahead of the timeline). And I don't think there is need to add ECM to this mech.
