Again, I would LOVE to see them. I WANT to play with them. But I don't project my subjective Wants as sound PGI/MWO marketing decision.

Well, PGI isn't known for sound marketing decisions, so the hope is still there Posted Image

In 6 years PGI will be begging for new ideas. Quads are not totally out of question (after Solaris, Singleplayer, Melee, IS Omnis, level 3 tech, vehicles...)

I for one have very little doubt about it. It is almost guaranteed to sell well. And hey, if it looks nice, I will buy it too.
Nostalgia strike.

I personally regret not being capable of mounting a 350-engine on my 70ton Mechs very much. In fact I run some of my 70-80ton Mechs with max engine (above 350) and enjoy it very much because it fits my playstyle. I do not know if I could make good use of the Excalibur's fully maxed engine rating yet, but I would be willing to try it out.

Cavalry Mechs are not to everyone's taste, and I don't want all of them at once. Besides being a cavalry Mech just for my kind of playstyle, the fact that it is a rare Mech with a unique history - very much the opposite of the Crusader in this regard, which is a common Mech all across the IS - appeals very much to me. Of course, I know this argument could be used against the Excalibur just as well.

PS: regarding cavalry Mechs, I would also welcome the Lancelot, kind of a smaller, faster Black Knight with more variety in its variants.

You like fast heavies eh? Check out the Falconer. Xl375, gauss in the right arm, erppc in the left & 4 MLAs in the torsos with JJ. It's production year is 3053 even.

Do you know Alex Iglesias already sketched the Falconer, right?

Well, I could do it myself, but with Alex we'd get an idea what the Official MWO one would look like

The Falconer is a lovely Mech. Commissioned by the Fox himself, designed and produced by the Lyrans (actually a Defiance-offspring), and meant to combat the Clans. Both in TT and the lore, it does that job quite effectively.
And I can see it work in MWO although I'd probably change the weaponry a bit. With Alex's art it may even turn out not so ugly.

The main problem for me is the lack of variants. I am not a fan of PGI-made variants, even though they might produce some really nice variants for the Falconer.

You know, the IS has lots of great options in 3053. You can go for the nostalgia of TRO:3025, the raw power of some advanced Star League designs (Nightstar e.g.), or the IS response to the Clans (like the Falconer or the Bushwacker). There is so much I can enjoy and would buy immediately.

I just think we get an idea of "what may be" and it tends to override the more likely "what we'll get".

I know the difference between my wishes and what PGI is likely going to do quite well. But I sincerely hope this thread is not just about "what we'll get" since such a thread would be very much shorter ...and a lot less inspiring. Posted Image

I think the Falconer would be a great platform for Pgi to create more variants. I also really like Alex's rendition of it that Odanan posted.

I mean... The Falconer & Nightstar would be insta-buy for me.

I don't think Bishop was saying you can't talk about wishlists, he's a realist is all. Personally, I think it's fine for this thread to bring up mechs you wish for to possibly get more support & attention for them.

Heh. LAMs happen, I think, the day MWO changes from a lobby style shooter into a persistent universe game with procedurally generated planet terrain and Aerospace included as well as seamless transitions from space to ground and huge, open planets where you can fight anywhere with actual objectives to achieve/fight over. You know, basically the sort of thing games like Elite: Dangerous, Star Citizen or No Man's Sky are aiming towards being. In that setting a LAM would be very useful indeed.

Awesome as a Battletech/Mechwarrior themed game of that style would be (honestly, it would be the Mechwarrior game I've always dreamed of) I think I shall not hold my breath for it. :D

So during the town hall Russ mentioned he was looking at 2 mediums and 2 heavies for the clan side for the rest of the year. Now if I would have to bet money on it I would have to say those mechs would be the; Viper, Black Lanner, Linebacker, and Night Gyr. Next if I were to release them in a order that would keep giving me a constant flow of income, I would do it this way, First Viper, then Night Gyr, Black Lanner, and close the year on the Linebacker. Now why he didn't say anything about the lights or assaults I don't know, maybe we'll have to wait for an engine upgrade for the Firemoth, or till the Kingfisher looks appealing enough. And sorry to the fans of the Turkina, but I doubt we'll see it anytime soon because anything it can do, the Dire wolf and Kodiak can do better, just for 5 tons more.

I've taken longer!

But seriously, I'd open my wallet wide for LAM's. They don't even have to do all three modes, just hybrid WiGE would be good enough.

The heavy weight is really obvious: Night Gyr and Linebacker.

About the medium, Huntsman would be an alternative, but I think the second one will be the Black Lanner, due to it's popularity. It was the most voted medium in the omnimech pool.

So, the Turkina. We can't say it will be inferior to the Dire Wolf in everything. Sure, it will have less guns, but it could have better hardpoints (it has a profile more like the King Crab) and quirks (specially mobility and structure ones, since PGI doesn't like to heavily quirk Clan weapons).

The Linebacker is so meeeeeeee..... seriously it was playable in MW2 Mercs and GBL...and there you haven't any terrain. But in MWO? The arms will plough the ground, it would need some brave decissions to make the arms without lower arm and hand activator more the kind of the Hellhound of MW4, aka Hoplite Style.

Although the Linebacker always reminds me what I'm missing. A fast and mobile Heavy IS Mech (no i don't talking about a fat grown medium like Dragon or Quickdraw)

THe Black Lanner as for the Viper will have a very small nice. I don't even understand the voters for this Mech or those that voted for the BattleCobra. Even the Stooping Hawk with a awfuly STD engine would be the better option, because it got jump jets in modules and high torso mounts.
