The Pillager has JJs has a std300, so it's more about firepower.

One Nightstar comes with a 380xl, with a 400xl it'd be just as fast as a Wubshee, 73.3kph or you could have good mobility with either a 350 or 375 and have more guns. The MK2 is a 90t, Pillager is 100t & the Nightstar is 95t.

The Nightstar has a JJ variant that comes with a 300xl but I'm not sure. That variant could technically have 360xl & JJ.

There's also the Gunslinger at 85t, it has ecm & JJ but comes with a tiny xl255.

That JJ Nightstar couldn't come with a 300xl, not at 95t...

95 1/2
190 2/3
285 3/5
380 4/6

Never say too many people complain about the Sagittare, tbh, since IS pulse lasers have such laughably short range, it was usually killed before it got in range.

Post rules change, it's just a very accurate pulse brawler.

Pre rules change, it could burn off sections with precision in one turn, a lot like a MWO-era Black Knight can. The space between the Saggy coming out with the TRO and the rules change was mercifully brief, at least. It was longer with the same horror-show combo using Clan chassis.

Tis a reason my Clan Assault of choice was a 4x LPL Warhawk. Clan Pulse Lasers are scary without TCs even thanks to double the range of IS. Also loved to run RFL-IICs for that reason.

I wasn't sure, I checked again and the JJ variant has the same engine as the base variant, xl285

My old Land Lord had one of those armour cast Timber Wolves and Mad Dogs, they were nice but I'd love to have MWO style versions.

So being totally serious, what is the next Clan Heavy likely to be ?

If not Linebaker what other omni could realistically be introduced as a mech pack?

I'm not a Linebacker fan but if Pgi released something else I'd be shocked.

Sadly, there isn't something to pick, with out opening the door to Holden Century mechs.

Pre 3058 Heavy Omni-Mechs not in game at current:

Crossbow:

Standard Engine
Weapons are arm mounted

Linebacker:

Engine size is one step too far, giving medium Mech class speed along with pod space.
Same weight as Being Jaguar and Hellbringer

Lupus:

Standard Engine
Jump Jets
ECM
Missiles and Laser fcoused

Woodsmen:

Standard Engine
MASC
Timber Wolf like in primary build

or...it could be a Clan Battlemech, instead of an Omni...like the Kodiak was.

The Clans actually do have several good battlemechs, Black Python anyone?

Non-quad Clan Heavy OmniMechs that have the primary variant in-service in the early 3050s:
Crossbow
Linebacker

The Lupus apparently only exists in the Clans' Brian Caches (as they were brought out of mothballs in 3058 for study, which resulted in the development of the Hellfire Heavy OmniMech). The same is likely true of any surviving examples of the Woodsman.
That is, neither the Lupus nor the Woodsman are in-service as of the early 3050s.

Non-quad Clan Heavy BattleMechs that have the primary variant in-service in the early 3050s:
Viper (not to be confused with the Dragonfly Medium OmniMech Posted Image)
Bowman (requires introduction of Clan Arrow IV launcher Posted Image)
Galahad
Guillotine IIC
Grizzly
Rifleman IIC
Thresher

You lost your touch, Strum. Black Python is not Omni.

BTW, welcome back. ;)

Russ clearly said omnimechs.

If it is Omni, it is the Linebacker.

I'm no fan either.
But with expressive quirks, it might actually be a good mech.

All of those don't have many variants in current tech though Posted Image For some who want to be a purist adding in new tech would help almost ever mech in that list and they have no issue with swapping that tech but in some cases they scream to high heavens but lore driven stuff that stump others mechs. I know after really looking in the mirror here. The tech/time jump is not just for the Mk II and company it really could open the door further for these other mechs and get the right variants now.

I mean do we really want to add say the Marauder IIC now while now having to make up like 3 or more variants. When if they just wait a bit longer 1. giving IS more time to feel special about the mech and 2. Adding in proper varriants and not PGI specials.

I mean hell the WarHammer IIC has a ton of variants heck a majority of those use tech not in game till we get a tech jump....So maybe these mechs should really be put off till after the tech jump. YES putting them back a little further but as some as mentioned after the initial first say 8 new tech shinny mechs they wont just drop all the new shiny mechs right away right(hopefully)? They will need to spread out the new mechs as well so say they do the initial 8 in 2 packages released at the same time ( I know its a HUGE amount of work) but after that they can lace in some and IIC's would be popular enough that it would make many satisfied. Though I will be honest if they do the Blood Asp first and making me wait for the Mk II longer would be frustrating but it is the chance I am taking saying this idea here as well. Though IMO I really don't seem them keeping the Mk II till the last year of the game or even 2. I expect it one of the first in the time jump honestly along with Uziel and Nova Cat. They would need the packs to sell enough to fund the jump.

Anyway I digress, I am just getting very antsy lately I guess about this topic.

Why not make the LRM15s as 3x5?
