Pretty much this. Ppl think "oh big gun cool!" But it's just a model and would make it beyond terrible or they wouldn't get the big gun and it'd still be terrible.

Not to mention that a single can-opener isn't worth it in MWO, MWO (like most MW games before it) favors many smaller weapons over one large weapon....

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but it makes me a bit sad that the Glass Spider will probably never be added to the game.

Posted Image

In all likelyhood its 5 ton heavier brother the Rifleman IIC will get added instead.

There's only a single Clan 60 tonner in the game atm, and the Glass Spider is honestly the best option for another.

Na. Thresher has it beat. Not by much, but it has it beat. There was one other 60 ton platform that was even better than the Thresher, but the mech eludes me at this moment.

TBH, even though I'd love to have it, I don't think the Thresher will arrive either. Too close to the Summoner for most people, plus it only has 1 canon set of Clan hardpoints, since the only variants don't switch weapon counts around.

I can always dream of having a Clan 60 tonner with MASC, which hits 108 km/h with MASC enabled on the stock engine, plus JJ's, though. It's a beautiful thought

That's it. Predator. At least from the standpoint of hardpoint placement. Thresher is way more interesting a mech, though.

The Lupus is an interesting mech for clans, this is due to what it is meant for. What I mean by that is it is not really a duelist mech, it is meant to work as part of a team, something 95% of clan mechs are not designed around.

Unless they raised the cockpit on the Pred it's high mounts would be largely negated. It's got the worst case of low cockpit syndrome I've ever seen. It's cockpit is literally in it's hips/pelvis.

Then it becomes a question of how many PGI variants?

As far as I am concerned, the Wolverine IIC Conjurer and Hellhound (MW4) are two different mechs... This approach seems to keep all sides of the debate happy.

I'm fine calling it its own mech.

The Osiris had less votes than the Hollander, and why would the Osiris be less well known? Even if we limit us to previous video games (which is bone-headed and ignorant to say the very least), there are other options. The Hollander was in MC2, I get it, so was the Razorback e.g.; it was even the same campaign. And those people who know the Hollander from TT certainly know of much better options too.

I don't think being known is the prime reason why the Hollander is voted for.

The funny thing is the Hollander in TT works great -> a mediocre Mech nobody does shot at because there are more dangerous targets on the field. And he can cripple Clan Light Mechs with a single shot with the Gauss Rifle.
Well and this is why it would suck in MWO.... you would need 2 shots with perfect aim to do the same damage as you do in TT and you don't even have the chance to outcrit a hip, actuator or gyro.

the best options for MWO as sadly as it is are Mechs with tons of hardpoints -

As you and Metus Regem observe, the one-big-gun-philosophy does not work very well in MWO. The Hollander however suffers from yet another transition-problem: light and light-medium support Mechs don't work very well in MWO either. The Vindicator e.g. is a fine support Mech for your main force. And well played Cougar can actually be really a frightening, especially in a fight against second-rate Lyran troops for which it was designed. I doubt the Cougar will be any good in MWO though.

The Hollander can mount a larger engine in MWO, so that problem is somewhat alleviated. And if it gets crazy hardpoint inflation you could turn the -G1 into a decent Mech. But then, why would you want a Hollander?

It's all about the big gun on a small chassis. And that does not work in MWO. If it did, we'd see Firestarters with a Gauss Rifle. (Yes, the FS9-H is 100% capable of copying the Hollander. 100%!). But don't see them. At all.

What you guys are thinking about the new tech? There are lots of options, but nothing beats the Light Fusion Engine.

Anyway, the next mechpack should come in 2-4 weeks. I hope it's another jumbo pack of 4 mechs. What's next?

Want:

- Wasp (IS light battlemech, 20 tons)
- Crusader (IS heaby battlemech, 65 tons)
- Fire Moth (Clan light omnimech, 20 tons)
- Rifleman IIC (Clan heavy battlemech, 65 tons)

Expect:

- Hellspawn (IS medium battlemech, 45 tons)
- Fafnir (IS assault battlemech, 100 tons)
- Piranha (Clan light battlemech, 20 tons)
- Stone Rhino (Clan assault battlemech, 100 tons) EDIT: stop right there!! Screw Stone Rhino, it's the Blood Asp (Clan assault omnimech, 90 tons) - how could I forget it?

Make your bets. I will give a hero mech for the first who gets right the next 4 mechs (if it's actually a 4 mech pack). Yep, giveaway!!
