While true, a lot of the ground work required for it is going to be completed thanks to MW5;M, this is evident by the fact that MW5;M is looking to have up to 4 player co-op, this means that net code will be baked into it. Now if they go that route and make a competitive PvP version of MW5;M, than I would think sticking to teams of 4-8 would be best, rather than the gong show of 12v12 that we get here.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it wouldn't be a lot of work on PGI's part, rather I am saying that some of the ground work for a re-worked MWO in Unreal is being done by MW5:M.
Also while a lot of work up front, having both games on the same engine I would imagine would make porting assets between the two a LOT smoother and simpler from that point forward. I also know Russ has said he WANTS to do it... but let's be realistic about resource cost... ATM that would be a pretty big undertaking, when MW5 itself appears to be a all hands on deck Hero Task. After MW5 launches? Then depending on their financial status, I would imagine would be the soonest they could really consider doing it at this point.
