Brigand? Lightray? Dragon Fire? Gunslinger?

The IS has gotten 3 (or 4 technically) assaults in a row and before that the Champion was released which is a heavy and before that the Vulcan. Of course PGI doesn't seem to really care that much but I'd still bet it won't be an assault.

I'm still waiting for the Chameleon to make it into a modern game, although I'll probably be waiting a long while to see that mech again.

It still probably has a better chance of happening than the Hollander (or Hollander II)… Which I would like to see as well :).

I find it very hard to predict the next IS Mech now. As long as MW:5 dominates the selection process however, it is also not very exiting to speculate. There are a quite a lot MW:5 compatible Mechs I'd want (Lynx, Exterminator, Lancelot...) but the more interesting units are from the Clan Invasion and FCCW-eras, e.g. the Brigand.

It's a shame that the fascinating FCCW-era was handled so poorly in MWO since we were given mostly sideshow units (lore) with subpar in-game performance. I hope PGI revisits the era some day.

I'm gonna bet it will either be the Crusader or Longbow, since they are both classics that are long overdue. Both mechs would help with MW5 promotion on top of that.

The pre-order of MW:5 would have been a much better opportunity for that; revealing such a big bomb like the Crusader two months later seems like a waste. I might be wrong, but I think they either keep the Crusader in reserve to push the actual release of MW:5, or they are simply not allowed do use it.

This would be a terrific 4-mech pack ("Project Phoenix II"):
- Light: Wasp
- Medium: Chameleon
- Heavy: Crusader
- Assault: Longbow

If they do it now, it may be an opportunity to pump up enthusiasm again a couple months after the initial announcement.

Notice I'm not saying it's a better idea. Just that it's an idea.

Reinforcements: Stinger and Valkyrie
Ultimate Pack: Comes with MW5 Preorder and codes for the mechs in MW5.

But . . . that'd be a really smart monetization strategy for PGI, so it's not that likely. That'd be such a great pack, though . . . it'd be hard not to open my wallet for it.

Hear that, PGI! Project Phoenix II . . . the pack that'd get former money-spenders to open their wallets again.

It actually would be a great mech to utilize as the first for a cross-platform monetization scheme. Crusader standalone for MW5, $5 or so. However, buy the collector's (or greater) edition for MWO and automatically get an unlock code for MW5. It'd be a great way to drum up some extra hype right before release. People would probably do a lot of standard preorders or day 1 purchases as well as pick up a Crusader MWO package.

Honestly, given the timeline of MW5, they could easily do the Brigand for MWO and squeeze it into MW5. A simple PGI variant with standard tech could be fudged into the lore as a "pre production model" before the FCCW.

The XPR3 could ditch the Angel ECM to carry standard ECM and a BAP, which would make it pre 3050 tech.

The XPR4 would just be carrying technically non-canon levels of JJ (2 standard JJ = 1 improved JJ . . . easy MWO conversion).

PGI could create their own variant that's just 2 ML in each arm and 1 ML in L and R torsos . . . and even go SHS if they want pre Helm Memory Core tech. For heat purposes, if they want to go SHS, they could plug in some MG into the arms or torsos, instead of lasers, and go an entirely unique route for a PGI "3025 variant".

. . . That X3, though . . . I hope when they introduce the Brigand we get that variant . . . and a Flamer fix while they're at it.

Yeah I agree getting the mech in MWO & MW5 could be a great marketing idea. Also the idea of a 3025 variant for the Brigand is excellent.

With the exception of the FCCW specific IS chassis, which are the Osiris, Uziel, Hellspawn, Thanatos, and Fafnir, every other IS chassis we have in the game should be viable for MW5. After all, based on this original quote from Russ Bullock to PC Gamer, they at least seem to be aiming for that:

Source: https://www.pcgamer....k-to-its-roots/

Quote

To that end, MechWarrior 5 will feature an unprecedented number of mechs to choose from. "Most MechWarrior games have had maybe 12 to 15 different mech chassis," Bullock explains. “We’re looking at having upwards of 60 chassis with 300 to 400 variants. You could probably play the game multiple times within just one Great House’s space and see different combinations on the free market."

Granted, everything is subject to change . . . but that at least seems to be the mark they're aiming for. After all, your list of chassis is 58 strong . . . which is pretty much right on the mark for Russ's projected desires . . . and that's before they delayed the game about 8-9 months, so it can only really go up from there.

There's nothing stopping it, either. 3065 is just the year that the Lady Death front company "open market" mass produced variant became available. There's nothing saying that that pirates couldn't have some 3025 tech version that they were selling and/or using among themselves (and possibly some periphery states, like the Taurains, who they'd probably have to go through for early mech production). It's far less of a retcon sin than some of the other mechs out there *cough*Corsair*cough*.

Wooooh! The tiny two. I will do the insane thing and solo the campaign with only me ( if possible ) in a 20 tonner , if not the whole lance with 20 tonners and the biggest gun you can fit Posted Image

Went to shait in MW 4 mercs but the challenge is hilariously challenging. Hard mode on.

Really curious to see what announcements this week brings. Today would be awesome, but for some reason my gut is saying Thursday/Friday.

That's it. Literally the main reason I play MWO. I couldn't tell if it was in MW5. That's it. You just earned a customer right then and there congratulations. I won't preorder though because i'm not an assault player and I kinda need to get a new job right now...

Hmmmm I think the Phoenix Hawk is not confirmed yet. BUT, since Russ promised 60 chassis, I don't see why they won't add it.
