A. Never underestimate the whale-iness of this community. I'm willing to bet you dollars to donuts that a decent number of people would be willing to buy it all.
B. There are people who may be skeptical of MW5 but still willing to buy stuff in MWO. Not everyone buys for both games, but there is most admittedly a lot of overlap in the target demographics.
C. The new mech could receive its own extended early adopter's deadline like the Whammer IIC so that people have more time to scrounge for the money needed.
There's a reason I said "won't likely spend". I don't disagree with any of those flaws. However, presuming there is no April mech, they probably looked at what happend with the Warhammer IIC and decided it'd just be easier to push one promotion. I have no doubt there's plenty of people who'd jump for both, but PGI might have decided it wasn't enough to push their luck.
Regardless, it's a bit sad there's likely no April mech at this point.
On the other hand, interesting video that mentions MW5 allowing modders to create their own "blueprints" (aka procedurally guided rulesets) for missions in MW5. It's only about 5 seconds in the clip, but it's there; and that's pretty exciting news for helping confirm the degree of MW5 mod support.
