This mech isn't coming out for a while. Id hope they would have C3 Slave unit by then.. as for snub nose ppcs. It is just a PPC with a short barrel.

It's pretty much down to the Zeus, Banshee, and the Hatamoto Chi.

SHG C - A complete redesign of the Shogun using Clan technology that is used exclusively by the Wolf's Dragoons mercenary unit, the Shogun C is armed with two LRM-20 missile racks with an Artemis IV fire control system for greater missile accuracy. The 'Mech also carries an ER PPC and four Streak SRM-6 launchers, giving it a devastating close range damage capability.

Would be nice to have a 85 ton Jumping Assualt... js :P

Streak SRM-6 was reintroduced in Inner Sphere only in 3058.

The Shogun is another very rare mech, restricted to a few with the Wolf Dragoons.

Also, read the OP (highlight for "The Timeline").

Rather have a banshee then a Zeus or the chi. 95 tons is why.

BNC-3E - The two primary weapons on the Banshee, a Magna Hellstar PPC matched up with an Imperator-A Autocannon/5 with one ton of ammo, are mounted in the right and left sides of its torso. The two systems compliment each other with similar range profiles and would provide good firepower for a 'Mech weighing at half the tonnage of the Banshee. Perversely for a close-combat 'Mech their minimum ranges means both weapons present targeting difficulties as the Banshee closes in on its enemy, and a Magna Mk I Small Laser mounted in its head appears to have been installed as an afterthought. Sixteen heat sinks help keep the 'Mech cool though, and thanks to its prodigious size the Banshee can turn lighter 'Mechs to scrap in hand-to-hand fighting.

BNC-3S - The 3S was Defiance Industries' attempt to turn the Banshee into a typical assault 'Mech, replacing the bulky GM engine with a lighter Pitban 285. While this reduces its maximum speed to 54 km/h, it also frees up a great deal of room for weapons. The 'Mech is armed with two PPCs for long range, an Imperator-B Autocannon/10 to engage an enemy at intermediate ranges, four Magna Mk II Medium Lasers and a Harpoon SRM-6 launcher for short-range combat, and finally a second Small Laser to round out the weapons payload. Five more heat sinks were added, though overheating remains a problem, and its armoring remains the same.

BNC-5S - An upgrade of the 3S variant using Star League technology, the 5S replaces the engine with an XL Engine and uses double heat sinks to save weight, restoring its top speed to 64.8 km/h. The 'Mech is armed for long range combat with a Poland Main Model A Gauss Rifle and two Defiance 1001 ER PPCs. For close ranges, the 'Mech has a TharHes Maxi SRM-6, four Defiance B3M Medium Lasers, and two Defiance B3S Small Lasers, and is also equiped with an Angst Clear Channel 3 comsys.

And the Charger! (why not?)

Actually, here is my updated percentage:

Banshee (39%), Zeus (25%), Charger (15%), Hatamoto-Chi (10%), Cyclops (5%), Victor (5%) or Annihilator (1%).

(After all, Charger is the Dragon of the Assault mechs)

Agreed. But with a XL Engine, top armor and medium lasers instead of small lasers, it could be very dangerous.

Odanan, just curious, how are you determining your percentages?

I'm curious as to why the Cyclops isn't consider a more serious contender, it's generally got a better variant/hardpoint spread then the other Assault (Zeus's are nice too.) I'd sure as hell rank it above a Banshee.

Because it's literally an Atlas with less armor and less guns and moves about the same speed.

If by "about the same speed" you mean as fast as the average heavy or the speed of most of our mediums while using a stock engine, then yes, same speed.

As a clarification on my post above, and sarcasm aside, the Cyclops would add more to the game than many of the other potential assault chassis. Right now, the normal speed for each of our current assault mechs (with the exception of the AWS-9M) is 54 kph or less with stock engines. The Cyclops was meant to be a command mech in the assault class with a varied series of load outs while being faster than average assault mech at stock (64.8 kph). This allows for a good mobile assault platform.

Most of the variants are good as well. Options for being a mobile missile platform, or a dual gauss platform give it something that the Atlas can't necessarily do well. Imagine an assault mech that could potentially mount 4 lrm 15s (if the CP-10-Q were to be given 4 missile hard points) and be fast enough to be able to keeps its distance from its attackers. And in many respects, it would be interesting to see what PGI might do as far as the redesigned visuals go.

By a very scientific method called "guess". ;P

OK, reasoned guess.

Indeed. earlier I could bet the Cyclops would get into the game.
But after the Highlander (which is of the same tonnage, BTW) and the Orion, I think PGI will get tired of that demi-Atlas weapon layout.

Zeus got lower priority than the Banshee in the list for the same reason.

Banshee at least would be something refreshing. With good hardpoint love, it would be a nice mech (even the crappy primary variant - imagine 3 PPCs in the same torso).

I actually built a Charger out of an Awesome back in closed beta before the engine restrictions

400STD, 5 Small Lasers, crappy armor for an 80 tonner

was pretty damn fun and I got 3 kills with it in the first match! lol

convergence is OP (in other words, the mech is a lot more effective than in TT because of convergence)

Cool!
But people, when thinking about the Charger, only consider the awful primary variant. In fact, there is a good selection of variants (specially those of lower speed) - including one that Jumps.
Because of the speed, the Charger could be a fearful assault mech.
