The Unseen
There is a possibility that classic mechs like Marauder, Warhammer, Wasp, Locust, Battlemaster, Wolverine, Longbow, Rifleman, Crusader, Stinger, Phoenix Hawk, Shadow Hawk, Archer and Griffin will never make into the game. That's because these mech designs (called "Unseen") can't be shown anymore in any Battletech game due to legal issues. They could, however, appear redesigned (the "Reseen") - but we don't know if the devs will do this in the near future. More discussion about the Unseen/Reseen here.
WHOA *** DO YOU MEAN LEGAL ISSUES?!! Damit I want my Shadow Hawk...and Marauder...and Wasp...and Locust...and Stinger and Rifleman! What kind of legal issues are we talking about? Now I'm very very sad

It's rather complicated, but the ownership of those images is a bit in question and it has become a bit of a legal minefield that the current BT content creators don't want to mess with. It consequently unlikely that the MW game makes (i.e. IGP) will want to mess with it. The chance of seeing the 'unseen' is very unlikely. If you are really curious I will go more in depth, but I don't think most people really want to rehash it.

The likelihood of seeing the Unseen exactly as they were is practically 0. However, a redesign could dodge the legal stuff. The art team at MWO is awesome and I'd love to see their redesigns of classic stuff like the Warhammer, Rifleman and Marauder. This is what happened with the 'Reseen' though I think largely those designs sucked (poor Marauder took the worst of it).

You gotta understand something, which is what I think a lot of people are getting hung up on.
So long as the redesign is the same Mech (not a IIC, or whatever) and so long as the redesign is based off the older art, there they are still Unseen.
If Catalyst took the Warhammer and literally made it into an entirely different looking Mech, but with the same armament and name, and such it would not longer be Unseen.
But they're not going to do that, because what they want isn't the name, or the armament. It is the art.

In regards to the Clans, we know they're coming, we just don't yet know when they'll be playable/salvageable. I could see a second announcement table for them as well. They've stated wanting to get 2 mechs out a month after 'release', I wouldn't be surprised if they were aiming for 1 IS and 1 Clanner as their monthly output.
First four Clan mechs?
Light: Kit Fox/Uller - Tough selection to choose from...
Medium: Stormcrow/Ryoken - Works for me as much as the Nova/Black Hawk would.
Heavy: Timber Wolf/Mad Cat - as much as I would prefer the Mad Dog/Vulture myself...
Assault: Daishi/Dire Wolf - I'd rather the Warhawk/Masakari however.
All Iconic in their weight categories, all very popular.
After doing some reading, I'm more convinced that the Daishi and Kit Fox will be two of the first available Omnimechs.
I'm saying 'Omni' instead of 'Clan' specifically because these two are confirmed models that the Wolf's Dragoons were manufacturing on Outreach during 3050/1 (also where the pulse laser and Gauss rifle were first introduced to the IS, though we've been spoiled by their early release).
I know they were responsible for other Omnimechs, but I haven't confirmed which ones yet. But in terms of introducing these type of mechs to the IS in 3051, this was really the only place available to 'get' them. Of course, since PGI isn't binding themselves to canon completely, they may just add models as they see fit.

Wolf's Dragoons were a Clan unit sent to recon the IS for the invasion.

Basically, but Catalyst has basically given up on anything that might cause the legal headaches, so while they haven't necessarily completely abandoned those mechs they've pretty much forgotten they exist (at least where art is concerned). It's pretty likely that IGP will do the same thing, it's simply safer not to use them, especially if their are plenty of other mechs to use. This makes me sad but I understand it.
But to try to get a little on track, as far as clan mechs go I think the first one they release the art for will be the Mad Cat/Timberwolf because it's so iconic. I think they will actually release 4 mechs (possibly 8) during the 'clan invasion' probably an Uller, maybe a Nova or Stormcrow, a Mad Cat and probably a Daishi (yes I'm using the IS names).

Find my last few posts in this thread. Catalyst used the Marauder (an Unseen) on the cover of their Experimental Tech readout that came out Nov. 12th. How is that giving up on those designs? It's not even the bad reseen designs from project pheonix, so to say they won't ever move ahead with using the unseen seems dumb, as they put a perfect example of one up on one of their latest projects. Here's hoping they continue to the trend.

Somehow I can see Paul rubbing his hands evilly as he plans on not released the Timber Wolf immediately...just to see the fanbase squirm for a few days then dropping it on everyone. I can still see FD sweating over doing the concept art for that one since it's probably the most iconic Clan Battlemech, and one of the two most iconic 'mechs in Battletech (the other being the Warhammer.)
