Mad Dog Primary:
2x LRM-20 (6 heat each)
2x Large Pulse Laser (10 heat each)
2x Medium Pulse Laser (4 heat each)
Heat Dissipation: 24
LRMs and Large Pulse Lasers have basically the same range so you should use them together, right? But you can´t, because of the overheat. So, that's a long range mech that is not able to use all it's long range weapons effectively.
I would replace the 2 Large Pulse Lasers by 4 Medium Pulse Lasers and some more ammo for the LRMs (which can only fire 6 times each). The mech could sustain a heavy indirect fire support role and still quickly dispatch any surviving targets that got up close.
Other example:
Mad Dog C:
2 Gauss (1 heat each)
Heat Dissipation: 24
Come on! That's a classic bad usage of heat/heatsinks. Replace one Gauss by an ER PPC. You would still get 8 tons to play with: add more armor, jump jets, short range weapons, etc.

Warhammer would be nice but it is obviously not going to be in-game, at least not yet. Same with Marauder (and screw the Project Phoenix versions).
Next mech we'll get is very likely an assault mech... and since we have no jump capable assault mechs yet, one of those. So... Emperor, Victor or Highlander would be good bets. Or some other assault with jump jets and also in common use (so no Marauder II).
EDIT actually, no Emperor. Emperor production stopped during Second Succession War and was resumed in '57...
