I'd agree......

Only IF it doesn't look anything like that picture. Sorry, but it looks like a fat necked biker with sunglasses. Worst redesign I have seen Alex do. The hardpoints I would be kosher with, and the class of mech in general, but just think that one's head/cockpit looks beyond ridiculous and lands into the realm of outright stupid looking. (*sorry, Alex)

It's from the art from a new Catalist's book cover. The art is by Alex Iglesias, BTW.

I like that Alex Inglesias is bridging the gap between video game and pen and paper art, updates Battletech's style a bit.

But I'm disappointed that the Banshee wasn't from an MWO leak :)

I find that Banshee very sexy and a great job by Alex.

Though, the head assembly arguably should invoke at least some imagery of the machine's namesake: "a female spirit or fae in Gaelic folklore whose appearance and/or keening (wailing) warns a family or community that one of their number will soon die."

IMO, the BNC-1E pictured in XTRO Primitives 2 does this very well.
Posted Image
The positioning of what appear to be the primary windows ("mouth") and secondary viewports ("eyes" and "nose") certainly look the part of "screaming harbinger of death". :)

Likewise (albeit to a somewhat lesser extent, IMO), the BNC-11X from XTRO Steiner does the same.
Posted Image
The BNC-11X seems to reverse the primary/secondary window positions (that is, it seems as though the "eyes" and "nose" are now the primary viewports with the "mouth" being a secondary window), yet the overall design still invokes the imagery of the banshees' wail.

Though, I think it could make do with being less skull-like than the XTRO versions in order to make it more visually distinct from the Atlas' "death's head". :(

The Banshee needs to be in this game just to fill in the the assault gap. The mech carries torso mounted weapons and you can even use the arms as shields. The Banshee variants become increasingly useful over the decades. We should have the Banshee variants 1E (or 3E), 3M, 3S, and hopefully the 5S.

For the 20 tonners, we all know that the Locust is coming in October and the Flea is delayed until M.A.S.C is being worked on.

For the 55 tonners, we already have the Kintaro, and on top of that, we're already getting new Re-Seens in that category such as the Shadow Hawk for November, and Wolverine and Griffin for next year (or this year if you bought the Saber pack).

Then the Orion for 75 tons, I do hope it gets released along with the Banshee.

With that said, I would like to see how Alex Iglesias can turn an ugly hunk-of-junk like this, into a fearsome war machine:

The Banshee is just another boring humanoid Mech with a grin on its face. We have enough of those.

We need the King Crab. Unique look, unique loadout. Style. Class.

I only want to see it to complete the assault weight tonnage. The more tonnages the better.

Also, a rather nice looking (if somewhat too MW4-ish) rendition of the Black Knight, posted as a preview for "TRO 3145: Davion" (originally linked by Nerroth in the TRO 3145 thread)! :)

It's September, think there'll be a new mech announcement this week?
I'm hoping for a light (Urbie/Firestarter) or a Banshee to fill in that last tonnage gap (then the King Crab :) )

Most likely a heavy, the Orion this time. There are three mechs that I am willing to take over from it though: Black Knight, Banshee and Zeus.

Listening to NGNG Podcast #87 (@ 13:35), Garth hinted at an assault 'Mech that carries 4 Gauss Rifles when answering a balance question regarding charge time for the Gauss Rifle. During this timeline, the only BattleMech that could equip 4 Gauss Rifles is the Annihilator. Am I wrong?

Annihilator? Urban legend, like the 6 MGs Spiders. :(

(they didn't even added the 2 or 3 heavy ballistics Victors - even if they could get money out of it)

PS: but that would be really scary. The Annihilator, not that puny King Crab.

PPS: and when I say "Urban legend", I'm not talking about the UrbanMech. :)

BTW: the Black Knight is a very cool looking mech. Specially when redesigned, like the Bishop Steiner's job.
But would you like this?

Variant 1:
9 energy hardpoints
RA 2+1
RT 2
H 1
LT 2
LA 1

Variant 2:
9 energy hardpoints
RA 2
RT 2
H 1
LT 2
LA 1+1

Variant 3:
9 energy hardpoints
RA 2
RT 2
H 1
LT 2+1
LA 1

Seriously?
The poor Awesome says "no".

Stock Annihilator moves 32 kph with a 200 engine. With Assault Mech engine caps in particular, it's significantly less dangerous than it's hardpoints make it sound. Make the Stalker look agile. Also pretty low slung, so too low n slow to peek-tart worth anything.

And I LIKE the Annihilator.

No Anteaters please. Never understood the attraction to that Godzilla-mech : l
If there is any viable dakka (ballistic) assault (and testbed for the new gauss tweak) it's definitely the King Crab.
