Another good choice for the next light 'Mech is the Javelin. This 30 ton 'Mech has three time-wise variants...

2751, JVN-10N: 2 x SRM6
2819, JVN-10F: 4 x Medium Lasers (Fire Javelin)
3049, JVN-10P: 1 x SRM6, 2 x SSRM2

To reiterate a set of points made in another thread with regard to the potential for more Light 'Mechs...

Well, the Thorn could be a contender for the 20-ton bracket - it's got the THE-S variant (supplied to the DCMS by ComStar for Operation Rosebud in the mid-3030s), the THE-T variant (designed by the DCMS during the War of 3039), and the "basic/standard" THE-N variant (for which all of the required LosTech - Endo Steel and CASE - has already been recovered).

Honorable mention for the 20-ton bracket goes to the Hornet (which would have three variants (the HNT-151, HNT-152, and the HNT-171) as of 3051) and the Mercury (which would have the MCY-99, MCY-98, and MCY-97 variants, but the first two would require MASC to be implemented).

For the 25-ton bracket, there is the Mongoose, which could have the "basic/standard" MON-66 variant (uses Endo Steel, FF Armor, and Beagle), the MON-69 variant (-1 Beagle, +1 laser, +1 SRM-2), the MON-70 variant (-1 Beagle, -1 laser, +2 flamers), the MON-67 variant (no LosTech, + armor), and/or the MON-68 variant (no LosTech, Engine rating downgrade, mounts a single LL in the RA).
It's also got the digitigrade/"double-knee" leg design.

The 30-ton bracket has a number of options: Honorable mention goes to the UrbanMech (with its UM-R60, UM-R60L, UM-R50, and UM-R63 variants), which could potentially be included if/when PGI implements engines with ratings below 100 (down to 60, to be specific).

For the 35-ton bracket, there are the Firestarter (with its FS9-H variant, FS9-S/S1 variants (the latter of which replaces the former's BAP with a GECM suite), FS9-K variant, and possibly FS9-M ("Mirage") variant) and the Wolfhound (with its WLF-1, WLF-1A, and WLF-1B variants), with honorable mention going to the Panther (which would have three variants (the PNT-8Z, PNT-9R, and PNT-10K) as of 3051).

For the most part, everything else is already in-game, Clan-built, Macross-derived Unseen, and/or doesn't have 3+ variants generally available circa 3050.

Thoughts?

Javelin ain't bad. Probably be right behind the Firestarter and Mongoose on my list. (Since the Urbanmech is probably never going to happen)

Did you draw that Bishop?

Or is that some art floating about the place you found?

Either way that is one cool lookin Firestarter.

With the way that the Devs. run things do you think they can handle adding another 2 legs?

I'd take that one long before that neckbeard banshee you keep posting. Even if I find the mech itself kinda MEH.

That energy hardpoint in the head better be mounted in the Banshee's jaw. They already blew their chance on the Atlas hero :P

What model is that? It does not look like anything that I have seen pre darkages.

it's one of the WoB's Celestial series. The ArchAngel, I think. Never been a fan myself, but to each their own.

Thanks. I have always had a thing for the chicken walkers (except in armored core weird huh) and that switch blade looks like fun. I got to miss out on the WoB timeline since I never got into TT and after Omi Kurita's death and hunt for the killer I pretty much stopped reading due to it being so hard for me to find non Darkage books and not really caring for the Darkage line. Seems like a lot of nice designs got released around end of the clan invasion line, probably to balance how over powered the clans were.

well, they never really fleshed out the Jihad in novel form, unfortunately. Even the sourcebooks are less than clear on it.

well, it's a rush job (pun only slightly intended) that will get properly fleshed out later.

Was thinking of making a Jihad era refit, with improved JJs, and 4 Clan Heavy Medium Lasers called the "Bird Eater".

I'm thinking a 40 pt alpha from one of these would be noteworthy.
