I have been a modeler for many years, trying to develop some self-produced games with another friend. I've now quit 3D modelling, I've never been capable to draw anything besides simple shapes and I deeply envy your skills, though I was able to "think" what I wanted to model and render it in 3D directly.

You should make an appliance, do it or I'll pit against you the whole FM :)

well, I applied, but I am 100s of miles away from home, so to say my resume was vestigial is an understatement. I hope my body of work counts for more than self promoting words!

The Wolfhound, Hermes, Javelin, and Thorn each fit the criteria listed in NGNG #94, and none of them would require overhauling the 'Mech Engine system (thus currently making each of them far more likely to be implemented than the UrbanMech); each of them should be listed as a candidate for the next Light chassis.

are there enough wolfhound variants? I thought only 2 existed at this time?

eh, interview and job app skills are not part of my amazing repertoire, though.

And it didn't really have much details as to what the position would entail. (But am really worried it would entail a mo0ve to Canada. Don't mind traveling there for work, but do not want to move there. Just got my residency here, ya know?)

Hopefully they' let you work remote. Worst case, as a freelance artist, they pay you for your art individually...

Bishop Steiner,

Best wishes with the job app. Hopefully they'll let you work remote. That would be the perfect circumstances for you.

WLF-1: introduced in 3028
WLF-1A: introduced in 3028
WLF-1B: introduced in 3028

While a 'Mech does (currently) need to have at least three variants (with distinct designations) canonically extant around 3050 in BattleTech to be a likely candidate for inclusion in MWO, similarity of starting loadout & minimum hardpoint distribution doesn't seem to be a disqualifying factor in and of itself - see QKD-4G vs QKD-4H & HGN-732 vs HGN-733.

Though, the Wolfhound's combination of having all of the variants have similar minimum hardpoint requirements (the WLF-1A starts with one less MLas than the others) and having all of the variants start as laser boats could could potentially hurt its chances somewhat... while also being part of what would make it a rather controversial selection.

*sigh*

I would kill for CGL to stop rewriting Battletech history, with all this retcon bullcrap, and actually start providing NEW stuff that doesn't contradict 30 years of official play and tournaments and fluff.

It would be nice if they rewrote a few mech designs to be available before 3050 so that there are at least 3 variants. :D

Or, PGI could reset the MWO timeline to 3149/3150, and go from there... :D

Oh...

Variant 1: 5 energy hardpoints;
Variant 2: 4 energy hardpoints;
Variant 3: 5 energy hardpoints.

Are you kidding?

They just need to add some new (even is extremely rare) variants, for the MWO's sake.

Why not a Panther or Hollander as next light mech?
Oh, I'd love the Hollander.

Too bad we wont get any additional mediums any time soon. I would vote for the Crab.

Finally, IMHO the Mauler would be the best choice for the next Assault. If you look at the Stalker 'variants'
and all those PGI invented Hero mechs - I see no reason why PGI could not make the Mauler work.

MAL-1R
left arm: 1 energy
left torso: 1 missile (15 tubes) 2 ballistic
right torso: 1 missile (15 tubes) 2 ballistic
right arm: 1 energy

MAL-2R
left arm: 2 energy
left torso: 1 missile (10 tubes) 2 ballistic
right torso: 1 missile (10 tubes) 2 ballistic
right arm: 2 energy

MAL-3R
left torso: 2 missile (15 tubes) 1 ballistic
center torso (or cockpit): 1 energy
right torso: 2 missile (15 tubes) 1 ballistic

just an idea....

Possible, as discussed before, but unlikely.

Thorn

Who wants a Thorn in MWO?

Just one of these variants is current possible in the game because of the timeline (see the OP).

About Mauler variants:

LT 2x AC/2, 1x LRM15 (2x Ballistic Hardpoints, 1x Missile Hardpoint)

Mauler DCMS-MX90-D (Daboku)

RA 1x Large Laser (1x Energy Hardpoint)
RT 2x AC/2, 1x LRM10 (3x Ballistic Hardpoints, 1x Missile Hardpoint)

The MAL-1R 10 hardpoints seem like overkill - but looks good to me
Maybe it should have only 1 energy hard point per arm.

Okay, you might ask: "But then it looks like a cheap version of the Mauler DCMS-MX90-D (Daboku)"
I would answer: "Look at the Stalker" :D
When they released the amazing 5 identical Stalker variants for me all arguments about "3 different variants in the timeline at least" went ad adsurdum. Also PGI seems to have a fable to create one superior variant (e.g. SDR-5D).

Finally, they could give it a larger engine cap to compensate that like the CTF-4X vs the other variants.
