The point being debated, IMO, is the prevalence of Mediums in BT vs MWO versus Heavies and/or Assaults in BT vs MWO.

On the day of the release of the Sabre Reinforcement Package, MWO would have 6 Light 'Mechs (5 playable), 9 Medium 'Mechs (9 playable), 7 Heavy 'Mechs (7 playable), and 6 Assault 'Mechs (6 playable). In other words, there would be more Medium chassis to choose from than any other single weight class - as it arguably should be.

The question, then, is whether increasing the prevalence of Mediums (specifically, Mediums other than the Shadow Hawk) in MWO gameplay is a goal that PGI should have, and how they could/should go about doing so if it is indeed a goal they should/do have.

(Also, I did not indicate in the recent discussion with Odanan, either explicitly or intentionally implicitly, that any of the 'mechs were worthless. Additionally, I would recommend treading with care when referring to the KGC as "dross" in a thread where Bishop might be lurking... ;) :D)

Project Pheonix - although it does not include any Macross reseen.

Hopefully, they will do a Project Phoenix II is 1 or 2 years with the Macross Reseens.

Hmmmm...yes, kicking the King Crab and Longbow, 2 mechs with huge potential out as garbage makes total sense.

Almost - Yesterday, when I read Paul's post on hitboxes:

Quote

UPDATE (Dec 9)

Due to the number of new Mechs being pushed out this upcoming patch, the hitboxes were unfortunately skipped this patch. However, for the next patch, the next 4 Mechs being investigated are...[/color]

Jagermech
Cataphract
Blackjack
Stalker

First thing that came to my mind is that they're going to ninja us new mech. I came here, started typing, and then realised that Wolverine & Griffin are down the pipeline.

I actually felt sad.

Indeed... :)

Two is a quite small "number of new mechs"...

It may look so, but still - 2 brand new chassis + Thunderbolt public release is biggest one-time mech shipment since Founders.

Guess I'm just mech-deprived; Phoenix Pack came and go, and now I have to wait till spring for more Flying Debris awesomness, which seems I never have enough of.

Well, Thunderbolt is already done... I wonder what the mech modelers and textures are doing instead of the Phoenix mechs...

And I'm also looking forward for the next concept arts... heck, the love for Alex Iglesias mechs was the reason this thread exists.

Phoenix pack proves that they are able to make more than one mech per month, so I guess they are doing initial Clan lineup & at least few more IS designs.

For me, Alex made hands down the best mech art in history of Battletech; Not only that - through the work of animators and modellers MWO mechs are not only beautiful pieces of artwork, but are also plausible as moving combat vehicles.

Yep mechs and their art/animations are one of the best things of the game. Unfortunately it's not enough not to let me pissed off how much they are delaying and leaving this game in an unbalanced state for too long, so I'm in a break from it.

At least I hope that during this week we'll be provided of some live screens from the Wolve and the Griffin.. some hitbox scale speculation shall be done! xD

For me, it's actually enough - I can live with delays and gameplay is generally fine; Could be better balanced, but still - way better than previous MW games.

Artwork, models, weapons (looks and works), maps, whole aesthetic 'feel' of Battletech more than compensates any drawbacks, at least for me.

Stalker's a tricky one. I read somewhere that alternatives (like non-chicken legs) caused it to move with some kind of "wobbly gait", and you can imagine what it would look like given it's silhuette.

My thoughts exactly. Heavy hitting AC20 of the Missile class able to use all sort of ammo including area saturation missiles.

Quote

Arrow IV launchers can be equipped with standard area saturation missile or homing missiles which work in concert with a forward unit carrying Target Acquisition Gear. The Clan version is lighter, and can also deliver a FASCAM (Field Artillery Scatterable Mines) round.

Having more tactical options would definitely be fun for us along with the chaos that it brings.

Granted that there is not much to pick from in the 3050 Innesphere timeline besides an unseen mech; PGI could use that to their advantage to modify it so that it works with their system but only fits on a few mechs. Then they could make a special PGI variant of the mechs that they think should field it minus the MC price to avoid the pay to win cries. It would be very interesting to see how it all worked out.
