I know I should post this somewhere else, but here is a valid idea I saw in the Urbanmech thead:

New game mode: URBIECIDE.

One of the members of each team randomly drops in an UrbanMech. The goal is: to kill the enemy Urbanmech. Surviving UrbanMech gets a lot of extra points.

Pros:
- UrbanMech gets into the game;
- Very easy game mode to implement. No need to adapt maps;
- All new strategy;
- Fun!

How about the reverse? Everyone except one guy in each team are in Urbies? :D

Urbie goes 32kph top speed, its gonna have to have some special ability quirks in order for to survive a match. Catch the Urbie would be kind of kewl. oh know, have to watch out for the return of The Uber Urbie Brigade! :)

That's more like a RAMBO mode. ;)

uhm does a team loose as soon as a urbie is killed?

That's the idea.

The mode could be improved by adding the objective to bring the Urbie to the enemy base (no turrets), for instance.

The team will have hard time defending it, yes.

I guess Clanners will have to manage with the available tonnages. Instead of Stormcrow+Fire Moth, they will need to do Nova+Mist Lynx, and so on.

It's a long road until the Piranha could be released. Second variant in 3067 and third variant in 3068.

I really do not see an issue in that. I will just bring a Dire Wolf (direct fire) and WarHawk (LRM boat) instead of two DWFs...or, even more likely, I will just bring a MDD/TBR/HBR or two and a Nova or two. Either way, I think two DWFs per person is the least of the Inner Spheres worries, when there are some very good mechs below 100tons.

Also, I would LOVE to see the Pirahna in game, but thanks for being a bummer, Odanan...

Keep the spawns spread out a bit. An Atlas doesn't stand a chance with a group of 15 Urbanmechs all firing A/C10s at the same time lol.

But of course! There are sixteen spawn points placed evenly throughout the map. The only hope for the Urbies to survive is to group together before the atlas takes out enough stragglers to make grouping up a hopeless fight :P

let's make it fair on the Atlas. 1 Urbie vs 2 Fatlases.

Urbie's awesomeness will make up any difference.

Some observations:
- Rampage is considered extinct (not to mention it has MASC) and the Phoenix should be available only for the Hanseatic League.
- Some designs are exclusive to the Wolf Dragoons (Annihilator, Imp, Shogun, Hoplite, Firefly...).
- Some designs have 3 variants, but only if you consider the "Royal" variants (like Excalibur and Crab)
- It's Hatamoto-Chi. ;)

Is it the gravest of sins if I like the reseen Marauder design? I'd never really looked at it until earlier today when I was surfing sarna, and I really like the look.

I was lumping all the different Hatamoto's together under one Chassis slot.

The Wolf's Dragoons may just have to share.

Still bothers me that people say "Urbies max speed is..."

You have no idea what pgi will set its max engine too. For godsake its not about the stock load out. Anything you can do with a Raven you can generally do with an Urbie...its got an energy and ballistic in the arms. Theyre high mounted. Its got JJs, you can put in a faster engine. You end up with a mech just like the Raven, but no ECM (or maybe it does, who knows).

But you get to be in an Urbie...

Mindblowing people are so obtuse.

I agree with Odanan, the Dragoon mechs should never come in a standard IS pack, perhaps far in the future when they have a working salvage system they would consider a Dragoon Pack that might have some of those but for now they seem highly unlikely and not exactly fitting.

To add to the discussion I find the Exterminator to be highly unlikely and a poor fit. Its battlefield role obviously precluding it from the stand up drag out mech vs mech fights we engage in. It also often includes tech that we probably aren't getting any time soon.

The Excalibur has a sword doesn't it? Its got a variant problem too because it'd need to include SLDF royal to get to 3 variants. So its a possibility for the SLDF / Comstar style pack but otherwise no it seems to me.

Mercury is a MASC mech.

We've been over the Wolfhound's variant problems.

What does the Hermes give us that the Spider doesn't already? Flamer quirks? Seems like an uninspiring visual and gameplay choice.

The Clint, Hermes II & Whitworth are all pretty vanilla humanoid mechs that only have nostalgia really going for them no? Speaking of where is the Dervish on the list if the Wolfhound is on it.

The Vulcan is a bit awkward since its an anti-infantry mech in a game with no infantry. But its got a unique look so I could see it.

The Thug requires a SLDF Royal Variant. So again SLDF/Comstar pack material.

For now lets leave off the Age of War stuff that is basically extinct in the timeline: Gladiator etc.

Now someone go through and highlight the mechs that work best as a Comstar / Clan Buster pack rather than a standard Great House military reinforcement thing. Seems like we're getting down to mainly Comstar stuff at this point that is timeline appropriate.

Actually, there are standards set by PGI up to this point dictating that very thing... There is a reason engine capacities are set where they are on current mechs - it is not just a random "engine grab" when they design them.

This is a "VIP escort" game mode. The good thing about the UrbanMech being the VIP is: it can't outrun any other mech (even the Dire Wolf).

Sounds like my proposal back a few months ago.

Well, I'd point out the Firestarter is an anti-Infantry mech, too.

Don't seem to be doing too badly for itself.
