So was there no mech announcement for January? I find that strange.

You are right, there was no Mech announcement. But, I personally think the Trebuchet is the current release target for February.

WHAT IF
Clan mech chassis are introduced,
Clan weaponry is not.

BUT

Clan mechs have more crit spots = more room for heat sinks / endo / FF, XL

No additional weapon balancing needed, gameplay isn't so drastically changed.

Probably wont happen

That's about as likely to happen as PGI giving bigger Mechs more crit slots and smaller Mechs less.

So, it's not going to happen.

I just now read this topic, and was saddened at the info about the King Crab mech. That was my all time favorite in the old board game. I really hope they change their minds and consider putting it in, along with the smaller Crab mech. Would give me and I'm sure at least a few others a boost in nostalgia and fun factor. ^_^

I have nothing to add which is why I've been scarce the last week. The letdown of no announcement really got to me. So I guess in the meantime I'll share this:

Keeping fingers crossed as well.

The King Crab and Crab sure bring interesting variations and a lot of character.

Battlemech 20 will probably be a clan mech which is why they haven't announced it yet.

What I think we're going to get: Zeus (unfortunately)

What I really don't want: Another useless 80 ton crap!

I've been thinking. With the new patching format they announced we will probably start seeing the newly announced mechs inbetween the patches. It makes sense to fill in the weekly gap between patches. So if we have a patch today on the 5th and later on the 9th it means we'll see the Battlemech #20 on February 13th.

i really want to see a komodo, it has three varients other than its stock (which is bad *** by the way) i mean who wouldn't want an 11 energy hardpoint mech with ecm and 2 AMS (admitedly the varients are fairly similar and would need a bit of poetic license on the part of the devs to make them seem unique)
